On this day in 1990 Bernard Hopkins won his first ever professional fight (he of course lost on his pro debut).

 

In 1987 Lloyd Honeyghan made his first defence of the WW crown he won against Don Curry. He beat Johnny Bumphus in 2.

 

And on the undercard, Joe Calzaghe went the distance for this first time in his career.

On the undercard Oliver McCall knocked out Dan Murphy in a round…..6 months before the first Lennox fight, and Lloyd Honeyghan beat Kevin Adamson TKO6 in the penultimate fight of his career

Across the pond in Atlantic City Bernard Hopkins continued his rebuilding after RJJ with a 3rd round TKO of Melvin Wynn
