In 1961 Benny "Kid" Paret won the world welterweight title beating Emile Griffith on points in New York. Six months later in a rematch Paret was stopped in round 12 and died from his injuries. Does anybody agree that these fallen warriors should be remembered by all, even by people who have never heard of them, and never be forgotten. I posted a thread a while back, "Remembering Johnny Owen" and was surprised at the amount of people who had never heard of him. Many a fighter has sacrificed his ultimate for the sport only to go unrecognised or ever spoke about again.
Also depending on wherebyou lived, The Th4illa in Manilla. R.I.P. Smokin' Joe. And I think dying doing what you love is the best way to go. Every body owes the Lord Jesus a life. I would love going out that way. A warrior's death on his shield.
Owen Parent Kim Cruz Johnson Pelkey et al are all remembered in the history of the sport and in the tales of courage and fighting spirit.
