When Calzaghe campaigned at 168, he failed to fight the best fighters in his weightclass for over 12 years.

Finally, he managed to beat the best fighter in what was a very weak division, before he moved up to 175. For this, he was given a lot of respect...but what has he done at 175? His first fight was against a 43 year old man.

Since then, Calzaghe has managed to avoid the best fighter at 175, "Bad" Chad Dawson. Even when Dawson called him out, and looked beatable against Glen Johnson, Calzaghe would not take the fight. Instead, he is fighting another hopelessly shot legend.

Here's hoping Calzaghe does the right thing and fights the best 175 lber in the world in his next fight. If not, he will go down in the books as the overprotected, record-padding Brit that he was.

Calzaghe's real boxing career is over.

He cleaned out his division and now he's looking for a pension, good luck to him too, he was a great fighter.

If Calzaghe beats Jones and does have one more fight which i believe he will as i can see him wanting to end his career in a big fight in Cardiff then he will either fight Pavlik (if he beats Hopkins) or Dawson.

Who ever he fights Calzaghe can't win with the fans. He will either be ducking Pavlik or ducking Dawson. :-(

Are you saying people considered Jones to be better than Chad Dawson, after Dawson decisioned the man that had KTFO Roy Jones?

    Laughable.

You cant use the fighting old men argument when your shouting for Chad-Calzaghe. He fought Johnson and Tarver and now you want him to fight a 36 year-old past prime Calzaghe. People in glass houses and all that. A win over Calzaghe in Calzaghes last fight wont be a good win, not if people on here are consistant anyway, it would mean as much as Calzaghes wins over Eubank and Bhop.

It would be a very good win, but not a great win, due to Calzaghe's age.

Joe is a little past it, but far from being shot.

Are you saying a man who had beaten Eric Harding, Tomasz Adamek, and Glen Johnson, and was 26-0, was not proven? :rofl

and what happenes if this fight happens ad jc wins was chad overrated was it a **** fight and jc should have fought pavlik as he is the real deal. then after pavlik who is next in line. we are talking about a 27 year old fighter who is passed his best by 2 years and has not had power in his hands for the last 5 yet everyone still wants him to fight every young gun in the sport.

JC is just building up his pension now he has nothing left to prove to himself and fihting on when you have achieved all you set out to is just asking for problems.

he is 45-0 and beat everyone he has ever shared a ring with unified a devision

#1 by the Ring, whose magazine-belt Hopkins held?

Who gives a sh*t about that? People knew it was Calzaghe's toughest fight, especially after he fought Hopkins. He should have fought Dawson next.

And it was always a much tougher fight than one with Roy Jones.

Only idiots would be saying that. Dawson is no Jeff Lacy.

A bit too soon to say Calzaghe isn't facing the best lightheavies. That may end up being the case when his career is over but its not the case now. Hopkins was the Ring champ and a top 10 pfp guy while Dawson was just a top 10 guy when Calzaghe faced Hopkins. He took the more percieved dangerous fighter in Hopkins. The Jones fight is a total money maker as Jones is shot but Calzaghe can get a pass on that one after his string of big wins prior. If Calzaghe keeps fighting at lightheavyweight and doesn't face Dawson, then yeah, he's failing to face the best possible opponent in the division at that point.

Nothing like it Calzaghe had his greatest ever win just over 9 months ago - the same cannot be said of EuBank or Hopkins when Joe faced them. The one was 43 as well, not 37. lewis, Hopkins, and others all peaked around Joes age.
