Explain how Hopkins did not become number one at LHW by beating Tarver, but Chad Dawson did become number one at LHW by less convincingly beating an older Tarver.

Also, if you could specify who the 'best fighters' were that Calzaghe failed to fight at 168, that would probably be helpful.

Any of the average 168 lb titlists from 1997 to 2004, and any P4P fighters within reach of his weight class during his reign.

Dawson became #1 by cleaning out the division, Mason Dixon was the cherry on top.

Nobody was ever clamouring for a Dawson-Calzaghe fight. It was mentioned as a future possibility but at no stage in either mans career has anyone wanted them to fight. Until Dawson beat Johnson a week before Calzaghe beat Hopkins, these two were worlds apart. Keeping in mind that the night Dawson beat Johnson a certain other fight at 175 took place that would see the winner fight Dawson. That man being Tarver. So, until JC gets by Jones, you don't really have any ground to stand on as regards to saying JC is "ducking" Dawson.

You mean like Woodhall, Brewer, Beyer, Lacy, Kessler, Mitchell, Reid? I see....

How do you clean out a division by beating a couple of people that have already been beaten by others in the division?

Just because hes at an age when other fighters peaked doesnt mean he is,Is Sugar Shane at peak?,No. If Chad-Joe happened it would be in the middle of next year,18 months after Kessler and 3 years after Lacy,Calzaghe's style of boxing never ages well, like it or not hes past peak. Like Axe said it would be a good win,not great.

Why is Dawson #1 after beating Tarver last night anyway?

If Tarver was the man, he lost it when Hopkins kicked his ****ing arse. Then Hopkins lost it to Calzaghe.

JC is #1 at light heavy.

Like it or not - there is no hard evidence for this. Just 10 months ago he more or less dominated Kessler who is according to some an A+ fighter. One shakey performance against Hopkins who makes pretty much everyone look bad is not enough to go on. He is nowhere near in the state of decline as Eubank was when he met Joe - like you clame.

Joe fought no world champions from the start of his career until he beat No Hook Lacy in the middle of this decade. he also missed any of P4P-threatening fighters. Deal with the facts please.

Adamek had never been beaten (before or since). He may have been weight drained, but it was still a great win for Dawson.

By "nobody was clamouring for Dawson-Calzaghe" do you mean there were no Brits clamouring to see Calzaghe get hiss ass kicked?

Because there were plenty of posters on here and members of the American media that wanted to see the fight be made. This include's Dawson's camp. Dawson even fought on a Calzaghe undercard when he was coming up, already calling Joe out. :deal

I rate Adamek fairly highly, but the guy beat no one of great note at LHW. Again, not a victory that makes someone a number one at the weight. You generally have to beat the number one for that to happen. Like Hopkins did. Like Calzaghe did.
