It feels like 2003 again when everyone and their mama were labeling Panchito Bojado as the next Oscar Delahoya. :rofl

I never bought into any of the Gamboa hype. He's nothing but flash.

Ref did Gamboa a favor tonight, stopped the fight w/43 sec left! Did he simply stop the fight to give Gamboa a stoppage? Same as last time, only worse!

Gamboa better learn to keep his freakin' hands up! He is no where near fast enough to make that roy jones **** work at world class level.

If he keeps his hands up, that takes away his best ability...Shock and awe...you can attack and keep those hands at prime level... He gets ktfo, and within 5 fights...

I am not impressed with Gamboa, but the ref will always be on his side as was tonight. He deserved the win tonight, but did not deserve a TKO by any means.

I think gambo is ready for a title shot now at 126, he looks a a little bored with guy like tonight, He did some silly thing in there but got away with them becuase he was winning so easy. I think against a world champion he will be totally focus and we will see this guy at his best. I think JML has his number if they fight right now, it will be a very interesting fight.

Thin about it..I consider Deleon tp have been in his PRIME and Lopez KTFO in 1 rnd!! Gamboa would have to go 12 hard rnds with lopez by the time he gets the BALLS tp fight him and will be KTFO

Fighters who try to mimick Roy Jones ends up getting blasted sooner or later. Take Andre Ward for example. He's learned his lesson now but back when he first came out he tried so hard to fight like roy until he got chin checked by some part time valet boy.

Hey, think about it..Goombah is 27... He is all speed and reflex..It creates his power and movement.. in 2-3 years it will slow precipitously leaving a shaky chin and moderate power... If Lopez and Gamboa fight now, I see either a ko for Lopez, or outside chance of Lopez UD...2-3 years from now if Gamboa wants to dick around with cans, Lopez KTFOS Gamboa under 5 rounds.. Lopez has skill, power and chin that wont diminish

Damn you people love to hate. He is flawed, and can be stunned when caught off guard, but his recooperative abilities are amazing. Not to mention after eating that first right hand and quickly recooperating, he easily took every other flush counter else Gonzalez landed the rest of the night, though they gradually came fewer and further between due to the relentless beating Gamboa was laying on him. He won every fight outside of the knockdown round easily and emphatically, and I only had him losing that round 10-9 despite the knockdown, as he easily won the rest of the round both before and after.

Again, he is flawed. Not only does he get flat out reckless, but I think, despite his amazing physical abilities and quickness, that his defensive timing is a bit off. This can and will lead to him taking a lot of counters, and in time unless he corrects it, it's possible a strong counter-puncher will be the one to take him out. Then again it's also possible that he'll take whatever they dish out and come back firing on all cylinders like he's done each and every time now.

As for JuanMa, I'm still not sold. I'm not going to proclaim Gamboa as the Messiah or anything, but I still see more potential in his future, despite the more obvious flaws. I just haven't seen enough of JuanMa in his fights to get a real feel for his game. So far he looks to posess genuine power, but he also looks slow and a bit stiff, and looks to have a bit more trouble getting set to fire his combos when confronted with speed or power. I think right now if they were to fight it's possible he'd KO Gamboa if Gamboa were unable to take the sustained clean shots. I also think it's possible Gamboa's size, strength, speed, and power could overwhelm the slower, more plodding Lopez.

I hope the fight doesn't come off for a while though, as I'd still like to see more of both, and I'd really like to see Gamboa iron out his kinks. He showed more maturity and patience early on than he ever has, but after being tagged, he once again went into seek-and-destroy-at-all-costs mode and got a bit careless.

Another thing I feel I have to mention, as I always do when these Gamboa threads are brought up, is that he's only legitimately been knocked down twice, and both times his ass never hit the canvas before he sprung back to his feet. The other two times were caused by an elbow straight to the jaw (which again he got up from immediately) and a flat out awful call by the ref, as Gamboa simply got tangled and tripped up.

Nice, well thought post....You are correct, if this fight were tohappen now it would be disastrous for Gamboa..unfortunately theres not a lot for him to learn, and he would likely be KTFO anyway by Lopez
