Gamboa is the "Edison Miranda" of 126...he will look like a world beater against class B opposition, but he will outclassed by smarter, more disciplined fighters like Juan Man Lo. Juan Man Lo is surprisingly poised for his age...he showed great maturity against a tough, rugged aggressor like Ponce De Leon. He didn't try to stand and trade with Ponce. He waited for his opening and took advantage of the overly aggressive De Leon. Gamboa will suffer the same fate. Maybe not as quickly, but he will get caught coming in.
Ya "Speey" really showed his world class calibre..lol, gtfah....Lopez Kos this clown easy..and I mean EASY..Not as bad as DeLeon, but probably 2nd or 3rd, SERIOUSLY
I co-sign that. But I am in no rush to see Juanma going up in weight. There are a few good more lucrative fights at 122lbs right now. And I don't think Gamboa is going to wait for Juanma. He is going to get KTFO before Juanma gets to him.
I think Lopez is just too slow and plodding for Gamboa. Gamboa needs a solidtrainer that works well with controlled aggression....I'd hate to say it but Freddie Roach would actually be a great choice. He needs someone that will have him using his great attacking skills (not someone like Manny steward who would try and fail at making him a safety counter puncher) while keeping his hands up and using defense and better less predictable head movement as he attacks
Freddy might have a chance to fix him. But this is not a typical 13 fights boxer with 30 or 50 Amateur fights. This kid has been fighting for a loooong time. And right now, Juanma can knock him out.
LMAO, ya youre right, he will get ****ed when he reaches top 15 competition, and Lopez will light years away!!
I was at the fight tonight, and I saw De Leon fight at the forum a few times, and I don't think Gamboa will ever even reach the level where he can hang with Ponce. He's just too flawed. That wasn't a huge punch that Speedy landed but it turned his head right around, and he was also wide open for counters - at least it looked like to me - all night long, but Gonzalez wasn't able to capitalize on them because he too often went into a defensive shell. I honestly don't see Gamboa getting past any top level fighter. Not hating, that's just what I see. Anyone capable to punching with him during his flurries will probably drop him and stop him.
Exactly...Deloeon would ktfo Gamboa now... Lopez would decimate him... You laid it out perfect with his inadequacies... He loses against most top 20...youre right
