Showtime blows HBO out of the water! The presentation, coverage, sound, color, announcing AND fights were better than what hbo had to offer. Its time for lampley and co. to hit the road. Showtime KOsHBO. Again:bbb

I thought Roy was actually the commentator of the night.

    Yeah, I think so too.

I only watched the Canelo fight so far. HBO had some production flaws and some of their commentating was bad (barring Roy), but one thing I noticed the last two weeks is they seem to be moving from one fight to another much quicker. I know, because I usually have a joint break in between fights, and have plenty of time to spar prior to the main event. On this evening (and last week) I was astonished with how timely they were in their flow (in that regard).

I stand by what I said. I think Roy was the best of the night, and that MMA guy was the worst. So just having watched the Canelo fight so far, the commentary was probably a wash for me.

Showtime had the better undercard. HBO had the main event.

I actually prefer the hbo team of jim, max, manny, larry. Granted they are biased as **** so you can't base who's winning off what they say, but their excitement and conversation is more entertaining than the showtime team.

Al is great tho, as is tarver. That aids ridden mma guy and the other "WHERE'S JUANMA" dude can **** off

BTW, while I think Roy was exceptional tonight, I also believe Steward would have been very good for this particular card too, and if he had been there, the entire dynamics between him with Jim and Max may have meshed better.

What are you talking about? :nono I flicked back and forth from showtime and only found one fight worth watching

Sergio Martinez - Julio Cesar Chavez Jr - Thrilling final round with prospect of a rematch

Roman Martinez - Miguel Beltran Jr - FOTY with a prospect of a rematch

Guillermo Rigondeauz - Robert Marroquin - Underdog providing plenty of scares

and to add to that all of them were World championship fights : WBA/WBO/WBC

Then you have showtimes card :

Saul Alvarez Vs Josesito Lopez - a 154 lb fighter against his former 140 lb sparring partner

Daniel Ponce De Leon Vs Johny Gonzalez - ended with a clash of head in a TD

Marcos Maidana Vs Jesus Soto Karass - actually was a FOTY candidate and a dark horse, I knew Maidana would overpower Karass and stop him but didnt expect Karass to put up such a fight doing so, however this fight ended with a TKO and with no possibility of a rematch

Leo Santa Cruz Vs Eric Morel - Didnt see this fight as I believe I was watching one of the HBO cards (Rigo fight I think it was)

    Gus Johnson
    Max Kellerman
    Roy Jones Jr.

    Backup:
    Al Bernstein
    Antonio Tarver
    Jim Lampley

I like Steward a lot, though I think he's replaceable. You need good color commentary along with boxing analysis. Personality is as important as nuts and bolts.

Dude i would have gladly taken HBO's shitfest than the Top Ranks personal commentators

One American commentator who seemed to be having a ****ing Orgasm everytime Julio Cesar Chavez landed a punch and I swear he was ten seconds away from an auto-erotic death in the final round whilst his co-commentator from Ireland was so quiet he might aswell been playing chinese whisper! not to mention they didnt show the post fight interviews . . . ****s
