Once and for all, change the name. These guys do not descend from Joe Louis.

today they would be regarded as Superheavyweights because they were SHW.

Indeed they were and in the absence of a SHW division in their day so shall they remain being remembered as champions in that division.

in but not “of” that division.

whereas today, for years now, we have a Superheavyweight division using the wrong name. There is an exclusive division for Carnera sized men to go.

And we also have a Heavyweight division using the wrong name.

And this why both Cruiser and heavyweight need relabelled.

There is no SHW division today. Hell the champ is a former CW Himself.

Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe, The Klitchskos, Tyson Fury etc etc. they won titles at SHW and remained SHW. they didn’t get smaller by turning pro.

superheavyweights exist in Amatuer boxing and then, without getting any smaller, they turn pro. Do they become something else by turning pro?

why should we call Superheavyweights “heavyweight” just because they turned pro?

If they are SHW first, how can they be anything else? They’re already labbled it in the beginning!

And before this he was a heavyweight first. Olympic HW champion.

The next division above light heavyweight is heavyweight. Always was. Still is.

. “Cruiser” is a bad word that doesn’t fit anywhere anymore. Wrong lable for something we already had. It wasn’t new then and it has no purpose now.

    I don't think so.

Unless you mean ...they would be regarded as Superheavyweights by Choklab.

it’s not just choklab, I think you will find the collegiate level, at the Olympic Games, Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games all recognise Super heavyweight too.

The National AAU Boxing Committee, Golden Gloves Association of America and United States Amateur Boxing Federation (presently known as USA Boxing.) all recognise Superheavyweight.

fighters exist under this lable first. Then they become professionals without getting any smaller don’t you know.

    Different sport.

That's the part you're not getting, Chok.

    Some similarities, but different sport.

How they're classed in that sport is irrelevant.

No it’s not a different sport. It’s still boxing.

All professionals start in the Amateurs. Even the officials.

It’s the foundation of the sport itself.

    That statement is demonstrably FALSE.

Your statement is as truth as all of the following:

The capital of the USA is not Washington DC.
Albert Einstein did not get a Nobel prize.
JFK dd not get elected president of the USA.
Eight multiplied by three is not twenty -four.
    etc, etc, etc...

The two sports have different rules, different strategies, different governing bodies, etc.

As I said, they have similarities, but they are different sports.

    This too, is false.
It is as false as your earlier statement.

It contains the same amount of truth as...

Vladimir Putin is the prime Minister of Canada.
The Mississippi River is in China.
Nigerians are generally paler than Swedes.
Iron is worth more per ounce than gold.

Have you ever heard of Anthony Mundine ?
Have you ever heard of Dwight Muhammad Qawi ?
    Billy Conn ?

    and others....

Many (most) professionals start in the Amateurs, but NOT ALL of them.

    You're insane.

So you think Usyk is currently the SHW world champion?

I think the top division is labelled wrong. He’s beaten a SHW world champion hasn’t he?

AJ was never anything but a SHW. He remains one in all but name.

Splitting hairs. Most so called “heavyweights” were registered SHW in the amateurs. They finished growing before turning pro. By definition they remain SHW. The division therefore is SHW too. It’s full of them.
