Only Sanders not Brewster and yeah, Sanders had best win vs Wlad during Wlad's boxing career. Wlad then was 26 y.o, still " hungry " and 6-0-0 in world title fights in row. Sanders was first boxer who had dethroned Wlad from full World title, then Wlad had WBO World title. Wins over Wlad I rate in such fashion: 1. Sanders 2. Fury ( cos then Wlad was 39 y 8 months old and not enough " hungry " anymore rich businessman + it wasn't stoppage win here too ). Then 3. maybe A.J. Maybe cos unlike Sanders and Fury he fought beltless Wlad and 41 y.o ring rusty Wlad's version.
That's a very valid standpoint, but I think there's room for disagreement there also, without it being "weird".
Perhaps, because Wlad possibly peaked at around age 34 or 35, and was firmly still #1 when Fury beat him age 39. But I think it's slightly off set by the manner in which Sanders and Brewster did beat him. With Wlad-Fury and Wlad-AJ, it's not difficult at all to ascertain. Fury ended Wlad's reign and AJ mopped up Fury's leftovers.
No, the padding was fine. Fury cried about the padding because he knew it would be more difficult for Wlad's old legs to be without the padding. Joshua won fair and square in a great fight. Fury resorted to dirty head games (for example, his team making Wlad wrap his hands twice) and cowardly tactics in the ring which made for a boring fight. And then Fury chickened out of the rematch, because he knew Wlad would be more focused and dangerous. Wlad would have beaten Fury in the rematch, the big wanker knew it and that's why he chickened out.
Pleased to see that the logical and well reasoned posts agree with the title of the thread. Disappointed to see posters trot out the same old line of "he was more motivated for AJ". It's been said a million times, and clearly must be said a million times more: S T Y L E S M A K E F I G H T S Do you really think a man who "couldn't be bothered" would risk his career and reputation to throw one of the nastiest intentional headbutts we've seen on the big stage? He was befuddled and out of ideas. No one had taken his jab away before, and AJ most certainly didn't in his next fight. Behold, a Vlad who "barely lifted a finger" powering up and taking off like a rocket: This content is protected This made Hopkins and Ward blush and wag their fingers.
I know Im in the minority but Wlad/Fury was a very close fight on my scorecard. Far from a landslide as the OP believes. That was one of the most boring HW title fights ever, not that that matters.
I agree the wins over Klitschko were not the same. AJ’s win over the better conditioned 41 year old Klitschko was much more impressive than Fury’s win over the 39 year old ultra defensive Klitschko.
In full view of Tony Weeks, who would completely ignore it and shortly go on to deduct a point from Tyson for an infraction that barely was (a blow that clearly landed to the side of Klitschko's head, thrown just as he was yelling for them to stop and break). Crooked *****. Not that I'm prone to fits of pearl-clutching over guys roughhousing, but it's something to consider (along with Otto Wallin's rake to the cut eye) next time you see people bleat about Tyson's 'dirty fighting'.
I really don't get some people. I can really enjoy a slugfest and I can really enjoy a more cagey fight like fury vs the klit. Seeing Fury, hands behind his back and chin sticking out, taunting Klitschko, whilst the Klit stood there fearful of throwing a punch is one of the greatest things I've ever seen in a boxing ring. As for Fury's performance. One could argue it two ways - 3/10, barely threw a punch, rubbish, only reason it's not 0/10 is that he won. 10/10, up against and all time great on an 11 year unbeaten run, in his back-yard, made his opponent look embarrassingly bad. You can only beat what's in front of you, and the reason the klit looked so bad was the man he was facing.
Fury toyed with Wlad and AJ went life and death. Fury is the superior fighter! AJ is limited and moves around like a robot. There is only one real King of the HW-division! Some people knew, some people might know now, some people are still living in denial.
Just saw a post stating that AJ "still has the best resume, and resume is what counts in terms of greatness". When will it end.
Joshua was only 19 when he fought WALDO who was in his chin prime. Fury caused Klinchko to headbutt because he had his water spiked and high blood sugar levels all FACts!!!!!111one
