He prefers to stay on the outside and stalk his man from a distance. Kind of playing it safe. With his enormous power, he could hurt his foes much more decisively from the inside. It worked for him vs Hopkins, but not the 2 others.
Kovalev in some ways reminds me of Linares.. Gifted, athletic, offensive boxer but with vulnerabilities, great natural talents that had the potential to be ATG fighters but will just fall short of that accolade.
