I was thinking, and there is one reason, possibly above all, that Mayweather could lose against my man, Juan Manuel Marquez...

Floyd said before retiring that his body was starting to give out on him. He is known for being a gym rat and putting in a lot of work...but Floyd, while supremely conditioned, has never shown particularly unbelievable stamina. He's a fighter, like all others, and like other fighters, a long layoff and a body that cannot keep up with you will eventually give out.

Juan Manuel Marquez could have the same problem, of course. But he has not seemed to slow down at all and remains a pretty active fighter. He's a fighter who above all other things has a talent for precision punching and combinations. Floyd is a master of defense...but his defense relies heavily on his body and his reflexes...seeing punches coming...moving his body out of the way with his footwork and putting his body and arms in position to block punches on the ropes. If any of these things fail...JMM will capitalize on it.

I'm not saying JMM will win...the smart money is on Mayweather of course, but I hope he does.

Mayweather will win, most likely inside the distance.

There's no way Mayweather loses this fight.

And I'm a JMM fan and I don't particularly like Floyd.

Floyd was talking mostly about his hands. Not about slipping in terms of speed, reflexes and such. Keep in mind that Floyd is still pretty young even in terms of boxing, he just turned 32, and has never been in any wars in the ring.

What's impressive about JMM is his left uppercut right hand combination which may be the best in boxing right now from what I've seen, but he is often too straight up and Mayweather has dealt with these types of fighters before and will also be the bigger stronger, faster man.

It will be incredibly difficult for JMM to beat Mayweather who I think is too smart. JMM sometimes also neglects to use his defense, which means that Mayweather may attempt to capitalize on this by occasionaly pressing the fight.

Mayweather has shown adaptiblity before, and I would be somewhat, but not completely suprised if he chose to be the aggressor in this fight, just to prove doubters wrong that he doesn't have any heart and doesn't go for the KO.

I'd have to take a better look at the matchup though before I can really put any deep analysis into this fight, but I doubt I'll ever get the time to do so. I only know what could work.........but not every fight plays out that way.

Condition is more the shape you turn up in, in my opinion, and can expand to agility for example. I'd think of condition as being able to do something in the first place, and stamina being able to sustain it.

I don't know why your talking about stamina though Epilson, he doesn't need great stamina. And he's been the distance plenty of times and come back strongly in fights, the Oscar fight for example.

agility is a result of good conditioning

you cant have poor agility & superb conditioning

Marquez has nothing to lose and everything to gain in this fight. The pressure will be on Floyd and it will show during the fight.
