    This is interesting stuff. Do you know the date of this article?

    I've heard Morrisey got the nickname 'Smokey' when he was getting shellacked in a bar fight and his opponent overturned a stove, threw Morrisey on the coals, got on top and wailed on him. But then Morrisey turned the tables and left his foe laying unconscious on the coals.

    Contemporary should be dated considerably closer to the events described. 1892 is not contemporary for pre-Sullivan champs.
