I think negotiations are not going down well otherwise there would have been an announcement by now (unless we get it tonight or tomorrow)

I initially thought Mayweather would be fighting Guerrero but with Floyd saying it is only a rumor seems a pretty shitty thing to say (trying to mislead everyone) if he does intend on fighting him and has been negotiating with him.

Schaeffer has said that Mayweather already has his opponent and its definitely NOT Bradley so where's the announcement....whats the hold up?

Also a really really important fact that I forgot; Trout signed with Al Haymon so if Canelo wants to fight Mayweather (in September) then you bank on Haymon making Canelo fight Trout first.

But whatever is happening behind closed doors something is definitely not going to plan....

    What do you think?

Working the calendar backwards, there's still some time. Not much, though. We'll get an announcement in the first half of February.

I just can't possibly imagine it someone other than Guerrero.

Yea there IS time but clearly something has gone wrong....whilst Floyd has everyone chasing him, he only has a few credible opponents he can pick from. Maybe one (or more) of them are playing hard ball?

As for Canelo I doubt he is liking the idea of having to get through Trout to see Mayweather in September. I bet these negotiations are really tough :bbb

I'm speculating the problem is more with Canelo than with Floyd. Mayweather is just being a promoter and keeping his deal one step from being finalized to keep it from getting leaked.

But this is boxing, so who knows?

Schaefer announced more than a week ago that Floyd's fight is finalized. Don't you idiots know what Sunday is? Expect some noise from Floyd/Canelo/GBP during the most-watched television event of the year. I don't know if it will be before, after, or in the form of a commercial, but I'm betting superbowl sunday is the announcement day.

Me neither at this point. I think at the end of the day Mayweather denied he was going to fight Ortiz when it was announced on boxrec and other sources.

Now he is denying (or certainly implying) that he isn't going to fight Guererro, I don't know why it's necessary to do that.

Either way something is taking a long time to be announced.

Perhaps he was sending out a feeler to see what kind of reaction it got?

All the signs point to Guerrero.

Tom Brady, the GOAT... Just a shame his defense has been in the bottom 5 in the league for about 5 years now.

Why do you need to call anyone an idiot?

In anycase Schaefer said in an article published on the 23rd he hopes to have the fight announced in a week....or early next week.

In anycase we are at 8 days now and still no sniff......I think Sunday may come and go and still no annoucement.

Abit late in the day to be sending out feelers surely? LOL!

I agree it's Guerrero Id be willing to bet STRONG money on it!

With that in mind I dont know why they dont just announce it, its not like anyone is going to be blind sided by the announcement?

Announcing the obvious gets a "meh" from the public. That won't get the kind of buzz Mayweather needs to satisfy his bank account and ego.

Rolling out a split site PPV with Canelo and some undercards gets more attention.

Doing it after all the Super Bowl hype dies down gets even more.

But Im saying they going to do a split site PPV anyway we all know that....plus at this point it dont matter who his opponent is it's going to sell.

No Mayweather PPV is going to flop....controversy follows that man like his shadow...

They always announce BEFORE superbowl so when he goes down he can be interviewed about who he is picking and talk about his next opponent, they are not going to want to break that habit!
