Good to see, I really enjoyed the first card they put together. I just looked up they only had 6 or 7,000 at the first show I thought it was pretty crowded?? Either way the Asian market doesn't have a huge promotion so I don't see why they can't be it. Hope they don't make any big mistakes like getting the big names in to quick and not being able to sustain the company itself. Sobral is a good addition though. The Thai boxer in the first card is someone I wouldn't mind seeing again same with the Eric Kelly who is on the next even and the main event guy can't remember his name but that was a good fight
Yes I read this on Babalu's Wiki page but thanks for posting the whole article! I'm looking forward to his next fight.. He's pretty much a safe pic for any org. since the UFC black balled him for almost killing David Heath. I'd grapple with any living human being but would only show fear for 3, and one is Babalu Sobral
Renato "Babalu" Sobral vs Melvin Manhoef will be the main event for ONE Fighting Championship on March 31 in Singapore! Should be fun whilst it lasts :bbb:happy
Interesting. I take it Melvins contract with SF has been nixed then? Wasn't too impressed with his showing vs Spong last weekend. Dudes lost a step. Or maybe he was negative as his always been in over his head at heavy. But like you say there's two outcomes here. Melvin via KO or Melvin looses via sub. The lata is looking more promising. Although i hope he gets a win.
Obviously not the most relevant fight in the world at 205 but interesting none the less. I think both guys, although past their primes, match up well. A classic striker v grappler match, as you say it's either gonna end by kod or submission And there's the small matter of soccer kicks should Melvin shrug off a TD or Sobral gets Mel down...
The fact its under the old PRIDE rule set is what makes this even more interesting. I'm all for soccer kicks and foot stomps. And if Melvin can learn some Greco-Roman technique who knows we could see some Vovchancyn-esque knees to a downed opponent! :happy
I hope they get some experienced Ref's in there who can match both for size, those little Asain dudes aint gonna split these two up if it gets nasty
Babalu, Mir, and Palhares are the nastiest of nasty grapplers.. They lock up, its tap, snap, or nap... I hope Babalu strings a few wins together, it would be nice to see him go out on a winning streak. He's also part of Wandy's training team for TUF: Brazil
