Execs are very happy with the viewing figures, am told its averaging around 200,000 viewers per week...described to me as 'a sleeping giant'. A heap of sponsors were lined up but dropped out after the Billy Dib fiasco. While no commitments have been made for any future cards "I'm optimistic there will be more in the future."
Whilst this is great news about the figures, I do question the 'heaps of sponsors lined up but dropped out' as I certainly haven' been given that feedback as Billy's manager, and I do liase with both the promoter and tv exectives and further, I've actually had sponsors approach about the further shows and their willingness to be involved. This appears to be your opinion (I could be wrong) and not based upon fact....
Not opinion, but the result of a conversation I had yesterday with someone involved in the shows. I have no agenda.
No worries Leon. As we both note then, we have differing opinions. Overall 'SuperBoxer' has been outstanding for Australian boxing and as I noted in another thread, has built a 'brand' within a very short amount of time, however by a lot of hard work. Empire and the people involved should be applauded.
Credit where it's due. Although there's been some rather embarassing teething problems along the way, the bottom line is 200,000! Provided it doesn't self-destruct through an act of stupidity (sadly we can't discount the possibility) it's gotta be considered a medium to long-term goer.
Thanks for the info Leon. Any idea what this "someone involved in the shows" guy thinks about our mate - "Superboxer!" (Jizzed in my pants) - Darryl Beattie :yep
baha74 I did bring up the subject of Daryl 'Superboxer' Beattie and will say I was quite skillfully dodged on an answer.
