Galindez was bleeding so profusely that the referee decided to stop the fight and declare Kates winner. Of course, the Argentinian corner went mad protesting since they wanted Kates to be disqualified for headbutting, but it was considered non intentional. However, Galindez was granted 5 minutes to try to stop the bleeding and check if he was able to continue.

A Doctor then examined Galindez on the spot and apparently decided he couldn't continue; but when the doctor's decision was communicated to the referee it had "somehow" morphed into saying that Galindez was good and the fight could go on.

By the way, Galindez fought unaware that the very same day his intimate friend Ringo Bonavena had been murdered in US. Galindez’s management kept the news hidden form him, thus Galindez only knew the truth once the fight was over.
