would love to hear the classic forums take on it.

lightweight or light welter, whichever you like.

any version of the two you like.

I've got Duran. Chavez is such a good fighter that it would likely be epic though.

Duran. He is just a bit better in everything Chavez is good and has more dimensions to his game. Chavez would be in the fight for every minute. This would be soo intense.

Duran's skills are through the roof type level, and in this fight he's going to be able to use them, the fight would be epic on a different level. Chavez is better at cutting down the ring in the conventional sense, but that wouldn't really be a factor the way i see it. Two of the greatest lead rights in history shooting off at one another.

I would have expected it to be even more of a ding-dong (and a closer fight) if you take the younger, wilder incarnation of Duran circa the Buchanan fight who was more reckless, unpredictable and hittable. Chavez stands a better chance of landing his surgical, metronomic type combo's against that Duran, though I'd still favour Duran clearly enough. I think Chavez would have struggled considerably more with the older Duran though.

It wouldn't surprise me either to see Duran afford Chavez the same sort of slight respect that he gave to Hector Thompson at times.

Would be classic,no doubt. I give the edge to Roberto.

I give the edge to Roberto as well. Just a better all-around fighter. Chavez would make his presence be felt though.

Duran would win a tough decison in 12 or 15 rounds, though if it's 12, Chavez will make it a nailbiter.

I'll take this...Chavez at his best was an offensive machine, but I think while Duran would choose to go head to head at times but he could also box from the outside using his better footwork to keep turning Chavez...Chavez is great, but Duran is still the more versatile fighter...Duran by solid decision in a good fight.

Duran for me, he was better than Chavez at what Chavez did best and he was more versatile.

Also one of my dream fights.

Duran by close decision both at their LW peaks, I think the better 1 punch power of Duran will make the difference - not that I think he will KO JCC - I just think those shots will be scored more favourably in close rds to pull out a decision for Duran + he has a natural size advantage too which will tell late on.

Duran in his 3rd DeJesus fight was at his LW peak.

    Then went after SRL.

Don't think Chavez would have gone after Leonard.

The way I see it Chavez is the better pressure fighter, but Duran is the better inside fighter if that makes any sense, and thats where he just outdoes Chavez in this fight.

I think at 135 peak for peak duran beats chavez with relative ease, the 72 incarnation in a war. The 78 duran would have a field day.
At 140 duran even more clearly.
At 147 its all over inside the distance.
I really fail to see anything better than Duran thompson or palamino duran.
And i rate chavez as a legend at 135.
The style is all wrong for Julio.
