Not really. Just because fighters do something which is unconventional or maybe doesn't correspond to what's considered text-book fundamentals, loads of folks assume it's a flaw and something which will harm them. That's not the case at all, Canelo uses the jab as it will best suit him. Canelo is a small, aggressive counter-puncher with t-rex arms. He can't box on the outside with his jab because his arms are too small and he can't walk down fighters with a jab like GGG since he lacks the foot-speed to do that and he works better as a counter-puncher. By walking in without punching, Canelo presents an enticing target which his opponents naturally want to punish for breaking distance without a jab which allows Canelo a counter opportunity. Canelo has a great jab, but it isn't much use against guys who are longer than him.

And yet he lands all his other punches just fine and still wins convincingly at the championship level and has done so longer than anyone else in the sport currently. His jab is nowhere near as big a problem as you think it is I feel.

Crawrford is very capable of beating Canelo IMO IF he fights a pure boxing fight and he's smart enough to frustrate and lull Canelo into his gameplan.

Canelo is kind of a strange boxer in that he's ridiculously tough and hits hard enough to get respect from bigger guys + his speed with his counters allows him to have an advantage against bigger guys.

But he's also short, slow enough and dumb enough that smaller dudes can frustrate him to ugly wins. He's not like GGG where he can intelligently pressure you and cut off the ring and vary his punches in power and feints, he'll spend all night chasing dudes in circles whilst trying to set his feet for power shots, he's a one dimensional guy and Crawford can take advantage of that.
