One of the Chin theories has been gaining popularity on ESB. Endorsed by Zak.

The theory that chins get worse as a career progresses. In all seriousness, I see the vast majority of this "prime" and "peak" and "chin" nonsense as a pathetic struggle to make complicated things fit together perfectly, but you probably knew that. Let me just give you an example.

Rahman's chin is worse now than it was when he fought Lewis. This is endorsed by Zak and was brought up in my Rahman v Tua thread.

The implication is that he would not have suffered his most recent KOES had he only had the chin he had closer to the start of his career.

This has never been new, but it is definitely more popular these days.

    Anyone else noticed?

I think Roy Jones is the no.1 catalyst.

Remember, Rahman has been over 21 rounds with one of the hardest hitters of all time.

According to many he has one of the worst chins of all time amongst heavyweight contenders and champions.

Chin Theory has to account for these problems.

Fighters are easier to KO late in their careers because they are slower and tend to train with less intensity. Hence the confusion.

You are quite right in what you say, across the board.

Is this a new revelation or something? I thought it was accepted that chins get worse with age.

EDIT: And who gives a **** if it's "endorsed by Zak"? He doesn't know more about chins than anyone else on here, and the same goes for his little (headed) friend. They don't have any special knowledge. I remember when people were calling Khan's chin as being glass before he turned pro, including myself, and then when he was put on ***** St. by Limond, both of these two made a big deal about it and told us they were telling us something we didn't know. It's ridiculous. They point out the ****ing obvious!

Not to even get me started on all the nonsense about predicting a KO in each fight and the excuses after...

As I say, it is not new.

It is just more popular and highlighted more.

If it is to be a part of a unified Chin Theory then a mechanism for it would have to be found and explained and then tested against evidence. Any apparent contradictory evidence would have to be accounted for.

De La Hotti, Pacquiao, Toney, Foreman & Holyfield would argue against this, confusing ppl even further.

    Many, many people.

Even you know who he is.

When Zak talks, people listen. They are interested in him.

What a bunch of bull****, everyone always knew this. The so called "chin" you mention isn't a "chin" it's punch resistance. As guys get older, shopworn, lose speed, quickness.. and biggest reflexes they can't take punches the same, a lot of times it has to do with not being able to react to a punch like when they were younger... they can't roll with it as well, or don't see them coming as well.

It's always been that way.. this isn't some new revelation.

Chin is just boxing slang used on message boards. You will pick this up.

Rest was covered by another poster. I agree with it, but we sometimes talk specifically about the punch resistance.

I know what chin means you idiot. I've even been on ESB longer than you.

You're the one who posted up a thread about something that everyone already knew and posted as some kind of revelation.

I know who he is, but because he's a self appointed "chin checker" and he correctly predicted a KO artist may stop a "glass jawed joke" in 1971, it doesn't mean his opinion on china carries any weight.

but how can you explain his 2 losses to maskaev ?
and see chris byrd and roidjones as examples of a chin deterioration as a career progresses. and maccarinelli.

These are covered by current chin theory.

It is the contrary points that have to be accounted for.
