I don't mind someone rating SRL over Duran but I give the edge to Duran for the number of fights he had. If SRL would have had another 20+ fights I too might rank SRL over Duran. But longevity counts and the win over Barkley is the clincher for me.

I don't count the SRL b.s. title win over Lalonde, that's just using your marketing clout to achieve an objective which to me is complete bs. SRL started it and Mayweather took it to another level and that is exactly want's wrong with boxing today.

I rate Duran over Leonard. His lightweight portion of his career was the size of Leonard's entire career and he fought some tough dudes there

Have to agree with some of the posts here. Hagler is vastly overrated. The biggest fights of his career were against smaller guys, he won a competitive decision against Duran, lost to a semi-retired Leonard, fought to a draw with Vito Antuofermo, and receives no criticism for never fighting a bigger man.
When someone on another forum said they'd have backed Gennady Golovkin to beat him he was treated like he'd suggested Joe Lipsey could have thrashed Harry Greb.
Hagler is THE most unjustly revered fighter historically amongst boxing fans.

You can say similar things about almost any boxer. Who has GGG beat that is better than Hagler's best wins, or Floyd or Ward or Wlad or Tyson or Hopkins etc etc.

I really wouldn't describe Hearns as smaller than Hagler, he had a considerable height and reach advantage, and even slightly out weighed him. A man with all physical advantages can't be described as "smaller", what type of bizarro bull**** is this?

Hearns started as a welter but was filled out all the way to Light Heavyweight by the time he was 30.

lol Have you ever watched their first fight? Hagler was robbed. Hagler was not a large middleweight and most of his middleweight opponents, including Antuofermo, were bigger than him.

Hagler was the last of the old school middleweights, a short middleweight, but great overrall fighter. He could box with a piston like jab or take it to the trenches with the best of them. Tommy Imo is the the prototype of today's modern middleweights, and The War was supposed to be a passing of the torch, but Marvelous wasn't having none of it!

:huh Bhops greater than Hagler? You know you don't believe that. Hopkins as great as he is, whats he going to do with someone that boxes like Dawson, brawls and pressures like Calzaghe, and could punch like Rj? Thats Hagler right there. I know Hopkins has one of the best training regimes to preserve himself, but so did Hagler, called it "Going to Jail." Hagler and Monzon still considered the best 160lbers ever. Hagler was all wrong for Hopkins, and resume wise can't compare either.

Vito Antoufermo landing with frequent regularity is the thing that stuck in my mind most about Hagler vs Antoufermo 1. Hagler was an outstanding fighter, but i just never saw the hybrid of Ray Robinson and Jake La Motta others remember him as on the forums.

I remember Hagler beating the crap out of Antoufermo, getting a bogus decision and then vowing never to let it be in the hands of the judges again. Hagler was no Ray Robinson, only Ray Robinson was but, make no mistake, Hagler was the real deal.
