The guy doing the terrible padwork on the other thread has a fighter in action tomorrow. The fighter is Rick Turba, and he takes on Jon Lewis Dickenson who won the prizefighter a while back. Turba is a lovely lad, a former European Cadet Bronze medallist and has bags of talent- but was used and abused by his previous managers/trainers and fell out of love with the sport. Only 26 his record is here. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=342288&cat=boxer 4-2-1 (3 KO's), he's a big puncher and his draw is with top rated Stevie Maguire and he has a loss to English champ Paul David. Anyway his trainer, who is largely terrible from what i've seen, experienced and heard has managed to get Richard down to 13 stone for a fight made at or slightly above the cruiserweight limit (a stone and a quarter underweight at least). I'm fairly good mates with Rick and I tried to organise him to join up with a cracking and caring coach in Kevin Maree, instead he's opted for this joker and apparently his next fight may be Matty Askin- another ex ABA champion. Ricks got ambition- but he's been used to generate cash quickly- what a sham. Keep an eye out for the Eddie Futch wannabe if you watch the boxing tomorrow night. I think this will be the first time he's ever done a pro corner.
Have to eat some humble pie on this one, Turba pulled off a fine win and credit must be given to his management who saw the opportunity for a big win and respect to Richard for sticking to the task. Great getting proven wrong about the match making in these circumstances.
