Isaac Perrins would be interesting even tho there’s literally zero way of predicting how well he’d adapt to the time period. Just being a big strong ass mf as he was always has its percs and he had a formidable jab, comparable to Liston

A lot of it was boxing politics and a rightful steroid ban. He could’ve won that belt instead of Charles Martin and it could’ve been a “three kings” division until Fury became relevant again. I think he would’ve been about a coin flip against green versions of Wilder and Joshua. They’d have to agree to fight him though. Parker wouldn’t have beaten him. I assume Fury at his best would get it done.

Most the top ten of any month from 1991 on could replicate Marciano's run.

    You know this is fair.

Luis Ortiz's interim belt I recognize and Martins belt I don't.

No more 10 and 12 page threads. We're going the old distance. Yee haw.

Let's have it in a theatre for 72 rounds. Let's go real old school.

If we go 61 pages the last 30 something rounds will all be fluff.

I think so, yes, but as usual Machen, Patterson et al they are getting underrated here. Liston was 215 and cleaned up the cruiserweight contenders that were bouncing around, swept them right up, and you'd have to figure that most of the giants that are being mentioned in this thread would be able to recreate that, yes. But when you start looking at the cruiserweights, or even the Liston sized fighters that did it, the list becomes a short one.

Liston is a prototype. His heart was too savage for him to be mass-produced. We got Wladimir Klitschko instead. You should all be very happy.

We should follow that. I don't think many if any of us are typing with gloves on. Queensberry need not apply here.

Yes, that goes without saying, I said to you more than a year ago I think that I know you'll always pick the more modern fighter, almost regardless of context.

But it's not really relevant here, is it?

Is it ever? But you seem to be implying that most people would prefer Liston so I wanted to chime in as someone who is on the opposite side.

Yep not many wee guys who could do it like Liston did but certainly quite a few from “The Weak” 2000s eras and the 80-90s who weren’t overly impressive for there time he was like Ali in the 60s mostly bigger, stronger and (in Ali’s case more athletic) then his opposition whilst being a good boxer there first fight was like when Patterson passed the torch over to someone who just physically overmatched him as @Seamus says Ali was “too much man” in that case SL sized guys soon became commoner and an outdated model entirely not long after.
