This guy comes up on so many peoples records at 147-154. Gotta admire guys like this. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=17800&cat=boxer
Jesus, that's crazy. Also, how is he allowed to box if he's really been K.O.ed 35 times? Isn't there a cutoff to try and prevent these ****ers from getting brain damage?
No UNIVERSAL rules, regulations or protocol are set forth to prevent guys like Valenzuela from fighting (and getting KO'd repeatedly). Many midwest and southeast (USA) commissions have lenient policies when it comes to which boxers fight in their state. Tennessee was/is notorious for allowing anyone to fight. Virginia was also notorious for allowing anyone to fight professionally. Guys like Frankie Hines found these leniencies to their advantage. Also, some boxers take fights on short notice, and they use that to bypass medical testing. Taking a fight on one or two days notice, arriving at the respective arena that late can be beneficial to guys like Valenzuela or Hines. Many commissions would rather have the show go on, than to halt a show because someone did not get their medical testing done.
I saw Roberto Valenzuela fight in 2006 at George Mason University against Dorin Spivey. I was covering the fights for a website and I heard a promoter saying how promoters love him because he'll show up anywhere for a fight and not ***** about anything. The knocked out a horse story - which apparently Duran did - also followed Valenzuela around too. He had legit power. It's a guy I've wondered what could have been down with had he had legit training over his career.
Well he keeps picking up wins, so I doubt he'll call it a day just yet His remit seems to be "pick up a few wins in Mexico, go to America and lose to a prospect"
WOW...!!! I saw Valenzuela fight Paul Delgado in Georgia and the radio ad mentioned the Horse KO...!!! Valenzuela is a boxing fan's boxer. He comes to fight, win or lose, and puts on a good show.
Wow respect indeed. He isnt fighting pushovers either, Dusty Harrison is destined for good things, seen his debut in person kid got talent
Not really those 35 stoppage losses could have come from Ian John Lewis.....hence no stoppage needed.
Its crazy how this thread started 7 years ago and Roberto Valenzuela is still fighting at the age of 48. Fought a few months ago at cruiser now with a record of 68-80-2 55 KOs, career started in 1992.
