One of the worst robberies I have ever seen

This is very, very bad for boxing. Finally the best fight the best. And we get the wrong victor.

This isn't like Pacquiao Marquez I or II where it really could have gone either way. And both guys were landing bombs.

Kovalev clearly landed the better and harder shots. Its just that simple.

It's not a robbery but it is one of those scores where I think you'd have to be biased for Ward and score every close round to him to give it to him...

I'm feeling kinda salty to be honest. But still, big props to Ward, to win against Kovalev against such a long layoff is very impressive and at the moment he's the #1 guy.

I really do think we need to see a rematch though.

 

Bradley-Pac 1 was one of the worst I've seen recently. This was closer but still a robbery.
American boxer fighting in VEGAS will always get the special treatment like you saw tonight.

I was pulling hard for Kovalev but he fought stupidly for much of the fight and Ward was stealing rounds and fighting ugly and was busy tying Kov. up and Kov wasn't able to land as many punches as he typically does and the judges were giving Ward the close rounds as you would expect them to. There was no robbery in this fight like there was in the fight before it.

Lol this wasn't as like McDonnell VS Solis, this was a close fight and Ward was fighting at home, he clearly won the last 5-6 rounds of the fight and some others could be scored either way.
I'm glad they scored it VERY tight and there were no bizarre scorecards, again the crowd was probably the deciding factor whenever Ward landed..

No, it wasn't a robbery.

I had Kovalev winning but there were a lot of close rounds that could have gone either way, it was in the US so I'm not overly surprised they sided with the home fighter in some of those close rounds.

I live in the U.K. and these days we serve up shocking decisions regularly so I can't call that a robbery.

 

Perez vs Hooker was a much worse robbery lol

 

This would have been a great night for the sport, but the judges scored at least 3 rounds too many in favor of Ward, end result being a joke UD with scorecards that are close to impossible to justify. He really got out-everythinged badly in this fight.
Sad day.

 

Kovalev didn't land enough punches? He landed more than Ward and harder too.
