Well, they were all small as hell, seriously anyone really beleive that Tyson wouldn't stop a guy like Harry Matthews cold ? Harry Matthews would be a small supermiddleweight today, it's true.

Dempsey hit harder than Marciano, at least Dempsey stopped some big guys!

If you could record the impact of a punch on punch recording Machinery Tyson should get it but if you record the actual effect Marciano had on world class fighters marciano gets it.

The proof is in the pudding.

    You are half right.

It is misguided to gauge somebody’s opponents power and durability by their size, and it is equally misguided to judge gauge somebodys power and durability, based on the size of the guys they beat.

James Toney probably had a much better chin than Lennox Lewis for example.

Sonny Liston fought guys of similar size on his way up to the title.

Why weren’t their brains getting scrambled like that?

Marciano was a hell of a puncher .. no doubt about it .. however Tyson was much bigger, stronger, faster and certainly flattened much bigger , bitter big men ..

James Toney didn't have a better chin than Lewis. If Toney had fought all the HW punchers Lewis did, he would have been blowing bubbles at some point. Peter dropped him with a jab.

Marciano had some clean right hand one punch KO's Walcott,Layne, etc.and Ko'd many with the left

Jack Dempsey said I could not punch as hard as Marciano, he does it with one shot for me it took a couple to do what he does with one.

Tyson had a one punch right hand KO over Spinks and Botha, both could bang but Marciano had that lights out effect

Just off the top of my head, wasnt Berbick, Spinks and Holmes three guys knocked out cold for a 10 count?

If so, there are some pretty half decent names and chins cracked right there.

In terms of pure one punch power, i really cant see how Marciano can compete with tyson in this category. He may have other advantages in a fight, but i dont think one punch power is one of those.

Holmes was the only one of the three you mentioned that was knocked out cold for the 10 count.

That is a real example of knocked out cold. Walcott would have been out for a count of 100. Look at the vicious head snap after he got hit. It takes some legendary power to jerk the head around like that.

    Mike had one punch power.
Marciano kinda just clubbed his man to death until they didn't get up.
