One reason why I rate Jim Jeffries verry highly among the great heavyweights.

I know Cox is a big booster of Jeffries from the statements he has made about him, thats fairly easy to grasp surely?

Some of the guys I listed had appreciably HIGHER weights if you take the trouble to check .I was at pains to pick a middle range. Its called honesty.

I said Jeffries weight was 215lbs and his average of the 16 fights listed comes out at slightly under that ,at 214lbs ,thats being fair not clever.

I am not aware of being "called out" by anyone.

The measurements I gave for Jeffries came from Cox, as stated.

I cannot answer your next statement ,because it has no terms of reference.

A hard gut? I take it you mean guy?
I have never said Fitzsimmons was not durable ,you mystify me with this constant reference to his durability.
I made a reasonable counter that the majority of his opponents, during the time scale you gave, were middles and light heavies, and ventured that this might have some bearing on the results of those fights.
Plus Fitz was 37 ,and conceding 39lbs ,and 40 conceding 47lbs, in the respective fights, with Jeffries.
I beleive reasonable posters would take these factors into account.
Of course I would not expect you to.

Jack Johnson has nothing to do with this post.

I have only mentioned his name ,along with Fitz and Jeffries to counter your claims that I exaggerate Choynsky's power.
Clearly, given their testimonials, I do not.

I have given Jeffries credit for withstanding it,and must also give Fitz the same.
You have never exposed me as a hypocrite, nor, as you once called me a racist arsehole.
You exposed yourself and others told you so.

I stated that ,I myself found reference to Corbett fighting in a 24' ring, I did this before you chimed in with your asinine comments.I readily conceded the point.I did not originally say you were wrong ,just asked for your source.I then found one of my own and voluntarily mentioned it.
Jeffries was a racist,in that he was not on his own, most white people were, his statement clearly shows him to have been so.
Indeed, Jeffries castigated Tommy Burns for" selling the title to a n****r, for a sack of gold".
To pretend otherwise is downright foolish.
Jack Johnson's refusal to meet the best black challengers whilst he was champion had nothing to do with racism, and, besides which, Johnson's conduct has no relevance to Jeffries own.
You insist on coupling and comparing them , probably because they are your twin manias ,one a love relationship that borders on the homo -erotic ,the other a slavering irrational hatred, that would not have been out of place in the times in which these men operated.

You would have fit right in with the crowd at RENO.

I have many times stated that I think Johnson was a ****.with many flaws , of the heavyweights ,my man is Jack Dempsey then Ali ,then Louis.

Speed in the 100yd dash ? What on earth has that to do with boxing?
I have allready shown that Ali was signally poor at running ,and gave dismal performances when doing so , yet there has not been a fleeter footed Heavyweight.

Sullivan was dead by 1918,the last heavyweight champ he could have seen would have been Willard, that does not give him many to compare for quickness does it,8 at most and thats counting himself ?

I beleive Pollack's book does not include Jeffries abortive comeback ,I find this curious.
I don't run out of ammo,to be honest you are an easy mark on these hobby horses, I could pull you up all day,and I get pms, commenting on your lack of rationality on the subject.
It's a shame because, on other threads . you are rational and objective,on a recent Frazier thread for example .
You are unduly protective of the Klits ,and rush to their defence at the slightest excuse ,I know two posters who deliberately cast flies out over you to get a rise.
It seems you are attracted to strong muscular white heavyweight boxers
Jeffries ,Vitali and Wlad, is it not time to be honest with yourself about these feelings?

I see your taken a low road by suggesting I fit in at Reno, which suggests racism, then you have make a homosexual comment about someone you never meet being attracted to white muscular boxers.

There is no need for me to reply here anymore, you have mucked up Janitor's thread enough. Pres on if you want to embarrass yourself.

    Are you drunk ?
Four mistakes in two paragraphs. Surely you are drunk?
Your post is nonsensical, you would fit in at Reno because of your hatred of Johnson ,clear now?
Its so easy to pull your chain .
You havent addressed my comments because you can't, you are out of words , ideas , arguments , and, out of your class.
Janitor ? I have respect for ? You , I would not wipe my shoes on.

You like to come on here and pontificate with pompous diatribes ,but when you are challenged your balls go up your arse.
You have left the field, the day is mine.

His height is given from 6'0'' to 6' 2 1/2''.I allways beleived the latter ,but photos of him with Fitz etc appear to indicate a shorter man.

    Mcvey,

Your a sad old man with nothing better to do. If I did not reply and correct you all day what would you do or hope for?

Your comments mean little, and when I address them you go of on tangents. I have already corrected you exposed you as a hypocrite, and more.

I honestly have no problem with someone having Jeffries in their top ten, his record against top opponents considering his short career is astounding, especially considering he beat all of those whilst in his prime. I almost regret not having him there myself.

Damn just realised I came in during an argument, carry on.

Public Forum ,your input is very welcome.
Jim Jeffries was a great fighter,as you say he was in his prime when he defeated all those legends, the same however, cannot be said for all of them.

Jeffries pre title opposition is incredible, and one reason I rate him verry highly.

As far as I can see, all of his opponents from his debut to fighting for the title were contenders, fringe contenders or gatekeepers. The only exception is Dan Long.

Has any heavyweight Champion had such a precocious , successful start to their fistic career?
Even Joe Louis fails to match it.imo

if Fitz' knockout of Sharkey was legit , then Jeffries' inability to stop the much smaller fighter twice really proves a lot. sharkey was not indestructible as his record tells. the best h2h in his time , but clearly not an all-time top10 heavy .

Fitz kod Sharkey twice, both legitimate one punch ko's , but the first one was called foul by referee Earp to save gamblers money,it was a good bodyshot.

No doubt Jeffries had a ko wallop, but he generally wore his man down first ,he had the ability to "take a licking and keep on ticking".

I don't think Jeffries one shot ko power was comparable with Fitz's, and ,probably not Sullivan's.
