One sided fights that somehow resulted to a split decision / majority decision

There are a lot of ways to see a fight. What you see from the bleacher seats is different from what you see from the 10th row. And that is different from what you see ringside, and that is different from what you see standing on the ring apron and that is different from what you see if you are in the ring with the fighters. I think that is why, originally, referees made the decision.
But it is too easy to bribe one guy, right? So you get 3 judges seated around the ring.
In my experience, watching rounds of sparring on video afterwards, they often look very different from what I saw from either the ring apron or being in the ring while it was happening.

 

Admittedly, I never saw this fight. But I would love to. The first fight between Floyd Patterson and Hurricane Jackson. A controversial decision whets my appetite. And this is one I would love to see. The scores weren't wildly out of place but enough to hang your hat on in regards to this subject matter. The actual scores were: 8-4 and 7-5 for Patterson with a 6-5 for Jackson.

Patterson had Tommy in trouble from rapid-fire left hooks and leaping right leads in 8 of the 12 sessions. Although the Hurricane stalked after the smaller Patterson in every round, he was staggered in the 2nd,3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 11th and 12th. Tommy almost hit the deck in the 4th and 12th. But he continued to fight back persistently. His best rounds were the 7th and 9th." -United Press

Floyd vs Oscar. Close fight but Floyd won. Oscar didn't.

I am with you. Holmes dominated. It wasn't that close. Probably Holmes knew he would have to beat Norton convincingly to take the title. The judges tried to give Norton the benefit of the doubt, but Holmes was too good.
