Leading into the fight, if I'm not mistaken, Lampley said there was no title on the line for the match. If this is the case how could it be scheduled a 12 round fight? Any thoughts please....:deal
He meant it wasn't for a real title. I think it was actually for the WBC international title or some bull**** like that
It happens sometimes when fights are not for titles but they are still negotiated as 12 round fights.
Thanks for the replies fellas. I had been under the impression that the only circumstance permitting 12 round fights was title contest. So if the two teams involved desire 12 rounds they can set it up that way without a title on the line?
Gotcha:good That's what I thought, even if it was just like the NABF or something, there has to be a title involved to allow 12. Thanks BigReg.
The WBC website claims that the title was on the line http://www.wbcboxing.com/WBCboxing/Portal/default.cfm?Idioma=eng
I think the WBC international was on the line the last minute. Unlike the "real" title where the sanctioning fee is 3 percent of the purse, the international title is a fixed amount of either 5,000 or 3,000 dollars (not sure which) which is peanuts.
