Against Marquez, people complained that Floyd was far too big and a middleweight, coming in at 150 against a large Welterweight in this fight and bullying him despite being at 150 definitively proves that

A: Size is not a component of Floyd's style, he is simply skill and speed
B: Floyd was NOT 160lbs on fight night against Marquez

    True that.

I was one of those who complained about Floyd being two divisions bigger than JMM. But with the latest revelations about his fight night weights, it appears as thought that wasn't quite the case. JMM made a mistake in trying to bulk up and be closer to Floyd's weight, when he didn't really need to. Especially considering the fact that Mayweather doesn't really use his size and strength to beat opponents.

But with that said, Floyd had been accustomed to 147 for 5 or so years by then, and to then fight a lightweight probably made things a lot easier for him.

Floyd uses his sniper like ability to find a place for those punches, a guard that is near unpenetrable and recently, an ability to walk down his opponents without taking much damage, although guaranteed if a few punches leak through he'll still get on the cycle so to speak.

A very tiny part of me believes Floyd does give a **** that he's been called boring in the past and that his fight with Baldomir was met with boos, because ever since then, he's arguably been a lot more aggressive and a lot more of a come forward fighter.

i think this fight definitievely showed that it was more of a tuneup against Sergio Martinez in the future. A win against him is a bigger achievement than beating manny, imo.

this is the fight that can get made i manny cannot and also makes the most sense.

But, but, but but according to all the posters in here (Haters really) Floyd was at least 165lbs versus Marquez...Right?

I don't believe Floyd when he claims that.

I think the reason he's been standing his ground a lot more now, is because he simply has no choice in the matter. His 34 year old body can no longer move around the ring and exert lots of energy, and so he has to be less mobile and throw a little more to ward off attacks. It's like Hopkins, right after his exciting fights with Pascal, claiming he now wants to give fans more entertaining fights. Nonsense. He's 46 years old and can no longer get out of the way of punches like he used to, and is therefore forced to take more shots and be dragged into dangerous/thrilling exchanges and fights.

It had nothing to do with Floyd, more like JMM moved up too fast and was a tubby guy just looking for a pay day.
