they throw tons of hooks and looping punches when mayweather is in the pocket. when mayweather is in the pocket he is arms are in the "L" shape position with his right hand cover his side of his face while his left hand is covering his body.
i dont understand why a boxer like dela hoya or hatton didnt just shoot right down the pipe because he's wide open for it. instead they always hooked and it always hit mayweathers gloves or arms.

if you watch some of pbf fights you will hopefully understand what i mean. i believe straight shots is the key to beat mayweather.

I understand what you mean. Right hands are the only ones that can land when he's in that defensive shell(both hooks and straight rights). DLH actually landed a flush straight right at the end of round 11. The problem is, you need to have quick hands. Otherwise, he'll tilt back and lift his shoulder before you can get in a clean shot. This could also lead to his opponent eating a counter right uppercut.

He will "roll" his "shoulder". Hence the name "shoulder roll".

The left shoulder is set to block the straight right. Then PBF will counter you with his right hand.

A left hooker-cut may be the most effective. Or from a southpaw, a straight left.

Floyd can see lefts alot easier than he can rights out of the shoulder roll. I think right hands are the most effective against him, followed by the straight left. I think he's only susceptable to uppercuts when he's leading with that straight right.

I'm just making the point that even when Floyd was in his shoulder roll, Chop Chop got in some decent left hands.

Only after he had him stunned(courtesy of a counter right hook). DLH also belted him with a straight right when he was in that shoulder roll. Judah was able to land a couple of straight lefts as well. The guy is almost impossible to hit cleanly. When he is hit cleany, he immediately goes into a defensive shell. If anyone is going to KO this guy, they're going to have to have a quick, powerful right hand. Or, they're going to have to be a lefty with good power and very quick hands. That's why I thought Judah would beat him. I didn't count on Judah's poor defense or Mayweather pressuring him like he did.

Was it? Maybe you're right. However, he wasn't in that shoulder roll when he was stunned. He was squared up and caught.

Fighters often fall into this trap when any fighter is rolling punches off his shoulders. I used to see the same thing with Toney's opponents.

Its as if their eyes light up when they see a fighter stand in front of them. They just don't seem to be able to help themselves.

From what I remember he was in the shoulder roll. He actually thought he had that punch blocked, but it got through...and he was a bit stunned.

"Corley came out firing to opening the fourth round and he snapped Mayweather's head straight back with a jackhammer right hook to the face at the 2:49 mark. Mayweather covered up and Corley unloaded a volley of punches that drove his adversary back into the ropes. Mayweather leaned back against the ropes in an attempt let Corley punch himself out but he caught three more clubbing right hands to the side of his head for his bravado. "

Looks like my memory is a little better.

A left hand staggered Floyd...followed by the other punches.
