Inconsistent statements don't mean you're scared. That's so silly I don't even know where to begin. Wouldn't be the first time he's fought at a catchweight BTW. I don't think he was "scared" against Marquez.
Please pay attention to the details. The Marquez fight was a non-title fight. Titles weren't on the line. In this case Canelo is the 154 lb champion. (he had 2 belts, one was apparently stripped) Mayweather himself holds a 154 lb belt. Both titles are on the line. This is why a catchweight in this scenario makes no sense. This isn't a situation where you meet in the middle because you are 2 divisions apart like SRL and Lalonda. He fought DLH and Cotto at LMW, and there was no catch weight because it was for a title. Yet this time he needs a catchweight. This begs the question...why? why now? because Canelo rehydrates so much? because Canelo is bigger, stronger, tougher? Ok, well if that's the case then he's obviously something. Scared, worried, trying to tilt the bout in his favor. whatever you wanna call it, bottom line is he didn't want to fight Canelo at the normal 154 lb limit.
there are independent eyewitnesses present at the scene that collaborate archies story. if you have any experience here in mexico, which I have an abundance of and probably more than 99 percent of non-national Mexicans, then you would know that money is the root of all evil here and will resolve most all issues. choosing ignorance over logic in the case of solis vs. canelo is something nobody does here. archis just made up the story of canelito sucker-punching him? and then got independent witnesses to verify this? canelo alvarez beat up archie solis and to come to any other conclusion is foolish. as for trout, the 4-0 scorecards reeked of fraud and actually is a great system as trout at least was given the opportunity to go for the ko. if he wouldve fought his normal fight not knowing the blatant mal justice being done upon himself then he probably would've lost by nine or ten points on the judges cards when everyone would've had the fight by one or two points either way. the irony of the situation with the trout/canelito debacle is that it is going to shorten alvarez's career(as it stands now saul will not be relevant in three years because he cant make 147 and does not have the power or skillset to dominate at 154)as guys like Rosado(would be instilled as a 5-1 dog after canelito loses to Floyd and would be the buy of the year), Vanes, Kirkland and lara are going to go for the ko agasint canelito because the all know that they are not going to get a fair shake on the cards. I have no problem with the catchweight. just like canelito nuhuggers had no problem throwing out emoticons, gifs and taunting videos when canelito beat up josesito lopez...one of the worst and unjust match-ups in recent years(fighters generally take five or six months between grueling matches; josesito was given three while having to move up in weight by 14 pounds in a matter of nine months).
ggg and cavez have both mentioned dropping two pounds to fight canelito. why didnt he fight them? if Floyd can get an advantage over canelito by making him drop two pounds more power to him. and like I said hes probably not going to make the weight, regardless. then all this garbage will be for nothing.
To be honest, I just didn't know enough about the situation to comment on it. I'm not saying what you're saying isn't true, I just simply don't know. Canelo said he didn't attack him, that it was his brother. We don't even know how the altercation started. Maybe Solis said something to him or his brother that pissed him off. Why would Canelo out of the blue attack him? there must be more to this story. Open scoring is not a great system imho. How did you score Trout - Canelo? As far as Josesito, you make it seem like someone put a gun to his head and made him fight Canelo. He obviously wanted a payday and made the fight happen, when he should have taken more time off and recovered. That would be like blaming Tarver for "making" Roy Jones come down to LHW to fight him. Looking back, to Roy's own admission, he should have taken more time off before taking a fight like that, let alone the rematch, but it's not like that was Tarver's fault for calling out Roy.
it's supposed to be a unification fight for the 154 pound titles. But it's at 152? Maybe he's not scared, but based on his previous statements that he thinks catchweights are meaningless, it suggests that he's worried about Canelo's size and power. If you don't believe he is scared, then more power to you, but he obviously wasn't comfortable with fighting Canelo at the normal 154 lb limit.
I'm sorry but if you think he may be scared because it's a catchweight where titles are on the line (as opposed to a non-title catchweight) then you're a f*cking idiot.
an like probably 90 percent of the people I had trout/canelo 2-2 after 4. could've been 3-1 trout. what Austin knew after four rounds was that he had to ko canelito which is something that his style is not accustomed to(he is a winky wright type of fighter that picks his spots and wins on decisions). as for josesito he didnt need a payday at that particular moment. he had just come from an exciting win over a known opponent. dlh exploited his situation and knew that lopez had no chance and that canelito would look spectacular against to the many clueless fans. the josesito lopez fight was wrong on all levels as there were many viable opponents willing got fight canelito at the time(Kirkland was also an exploited attempt as james was coming off shoulder surgery and would've not been ready). simply google up vanes, lara, Rosado, Molina calling out canelo and you will understand that there was no reason for the lopez/caneklo debacle. in fact, why was canelo supposed to fight Ortiz in the first place? victor had never fought at 154 and, therefore, was not a ranked jmw? and the jones jr analogy is nowhere near similar to the lopez/canelito fiasco. jones jr was coming off an enjoyable and pleasant experience against ruiz where he suffered no damage as the 2-1 favorite. pretty much a walk-in-the-park for roy. he weighed-in that fruitful night at 193 which basically meant that he essentially did not cut wait to make 175(a ten percent cut is not abnormal for a boxer). a lhw fighting a hw. unlike josesito who had to once again fight in three months, jones jr did not fight tarver for eight months. lopez was coming off a brutal war where most fighters take a minimal of five months to fight again. asking lopez, who had just moved up to fight Ortiz, to yet move up again is unjust it itself not to even mention the fact that his previous fight was a war. you appear to be trolling(only a fool would perversely believe that canelitos brother beat up archie as well as somehow drawing some sort of demented connotation between the jones jr/tarver fight and the canelito/lopez fight) so were pretty much done here. the esb forums is an avenue for boxing debate. it is not an avenue for a guy like me to have to educate a person like you.
i used the tarver / RJJ analogy as an example of a time where a guy wishes he had taken more time off when he was changing weight. Roy himself said if he had to do anything differently he would have taken more time off before coming back down to LHW. yeah the fight was 8 months later, but I think he considered another fight at HW for a while, particularly with Lennox Lewis, and when Lewis retired he signed to fight Tarver. it's not a direct parallel to the Josesito situation, and you might be right about DLH pressuring Josesito into the fight, but you're basically stating that this somehow resulted in bad karma for Canelo which I just don't get. he didn't force Josesito to fight. That's a stretch to suggest that it was bad karma for Canelo in any way. If Josesito wasn't prepared for the fight, or shouldn't have taken the fight, then who's fault is that? why do you blame Canelo? A lot of what you said makes sense, especially what you said about Trout having to change his normal style since he knew he was down on the cards. I blame that on the open scoring system, you blame it on the judges scores themselves. Regardless, I still don't see how any of this results in bad karma for Canelo. you make it seem like Canelo was controlling all of this, as if Canelo paid off the judges. Fighters fight, they don't judge, and I don't think you can blame Canelo for the judges scores.
im not blaming canelo. im blaming gbp. oscar has unknowingly shortened canelos career because opponents are going to go into the fight knowing they need the ko and will fight accordingly. so unlike a pac/mosley scenario(I believe that both Floyd and paq gave shane a free pass), they are going to press on the gas and do damage to the limited canelo even if it is blatantly obvious that they do not need to do so to secure a win. by the way, I find no credence in jones jrs excuse for his performance agasint tarver for the reasons I mentioned above. there was no huge weight gain/loss
So karma is a one-way street? Only Canelo or anybody Quincy K hates on is deemed for karma. Mayweather and the **** he has done gets a pass? I'm looking for Quincy K on 9/14.
