One thing we can all agree with...Ward's chin is made in China

His chin isn't that strong, but he's fairly good at avoiding getting hit on it. His elusiveness allowed him to go the distance.

 

Kovalev is SUPPOSED to be one of the hardest punchers in the sport, but Ward took his best and still kept coming. Kovalev couldn't stop this dude, for nothing.
Andre Ward is indestructible. his chin is steel. Kovalev probably broke his hand on it.

 

He doesn't have a great chin, that's true.

Early on, he did the "jittery feet" deal after getting hit. Reminded me of Khan-Prescott.

 

How? He's never fought a puncher like Kovalev in his entire career, and took the jab while getting wobbled but regained his senses right away. The knockdown surprised him, but he wasn't in deep trouble either. He recovered well from the KD, dug deep and won the fight! Give the dude credit.

 

He doesn't have a great chin but he has many great things to make up for it. He's pretty hard to hit clean generally anyway, he has amazing conditioning, he doesn't crack under pressure - rather he brings his A game, and he knows how to buy time for himself.

 

Please the jab was more of a balance issue, was caught by a hard jab while throwing his own.

If anything Ward showed a good chin and excellent powers of recovery. He took a flush hard right from Kovalev and got back up. Kovalev is a huge puncher, if Ward's chin was china he'd have never gotten up from that shot.

 

At the time Paulie M said Ward did nothing wrong,he went to counter and Kova beat him,who knows had there been time left it could of been over but there wasn't and Ward just lunged in and held on,in the corner Ward looked a beaten man but how he came out after that was just incredible,I'm not a fan of the decision cause at best I had it a draw for Ward but it was up to Kova to cut down the ring more and throw more power shots and left hooks,maybe he was pacing himself,whatever I said I'd give Ward credit and I stand by it,the guy has the heart of a champion.

 

Youre entitled to your opinion! Kudos for giving Ward credit though!

Although I don't think Ward has a great chin, being knocked down by Kovalev doesn't prove you have a glass chin. I hate when people say that. It's KOVALEV.

 

as suprising as it was to see him stunned by a jab. he adjusted very well to it and more then anything DID NOT LET IT SHAKE HIM. alot of guys go into survival mode which against kova would have been suicide. ward took his time adjusted and stayed composed after being dropped by one of the biggest punchers in the sport. reminded me of when shane had floyd hurt BAD
