Hard to believe it’s already one year since Kambosos shocked Teo in a bloody battle. At the time Teo was still fresh off his big win over Loma while Kambosos was expected to be an easy night for Teo. The first round changed the whole fight and Teo was in for a long night. Looking back at this fight it was still awesome to see Teo and his father humbled. As much as it was great to see them silenced the fight itself was amazing and arguably one of the best fights of 2021.

Sad to see Kambosos’ 15 minute of fame come to a screeching halt after back-to-back losses to Haney but I think he’ll make a return soon. Teo seems to be more comfortable at 140 and I hope to see him face Prograis or Taylor at some point.

Times go by. I still remember me and my buddy hiding a phone at work so we can watch it. He was a huge Loma fan so the anti-Lopez sentiment was strong.

It was a great day I knew my man Kambosos would win. He really lit Lopez up that night the first round was beautiful I remember me and my mates jumping off the couch when George dropped him it was awesome.

He'll never be top dog again, but he can say that he knows what it feels like to be the king of the lightweights, even if only for a few months, and that puts him in an exclusive club. Moreover, the performance he gave that night will be remembered for its spiritedness, the entertainment it provided and the great upset it represented.

No matter what the belts say, I just can't call someone king of the lightweights until they beat Loma and one of the young guns.

Haney is sitting on all the belts right now behind beating Zaur Abdullaev and Kambosos. Not that those are terrible wins, but it's too good a division to be ruled on such a thin resume.

George was lineal, the man who beat the man (Teó) who beat the man generally believed to be top dog (Loma). It was good enough for the golden era, I have to feel it's good enough for this one. GK might not be a fashionable name, but he deserves his fleeting moment of distinction.
