Over the weekend, Andrei Arlovski and Tim Sylvia had their heavyweight fight in ONE Fighting Championship coming to an end due to an illegal kick to the head by Arlovski. Now, ONE FC has changed its ruling to avoid any issues going forward. While soccer kicks - which are kicks to a grounded opponents' head - are illegal in the UFC, ONE FC allowed them as long as an open attack was determined by the referee.
In the Arlovski-Sylvia match, Arlovski unloaded twice to the head of Sylvia. The ref, however, had not declared an open attack, so the decision was made to end the contest after Sylvia couldn't continue.
ONE FC announced on Twitter Sunday night that they would use PRIDE rules going forward in regards to soccer kicks. ONE FC will return on October 6 with Shinya Aoki competing in the main event.

Was a strange rule that anyway. A fight earlier on had the same problem but was stopped before the kick landed.

yep full elbows including 12-6 elbows.

basically the short lived international rules they were using in Hawaii.

    best ruleset ever.

the addition of a grand prix and OFC's ability to outbid Zuffa for top talent like Bibiano makes this league the one to watch for in the future.

their last card had some badass exciting fights.
