I could see Calzaghe dropping his hard left hand on Hopkins and giving him all sorts of problems because let's face it - Hopkins had some trouble taking Allen's right hooks and Echol's shots so he would feel Calzaghe's punches, no doubts about it... Problem is Calzaghe setting him up to land a left hand like he did to Eubank or Veit or Pudwill but anything is possible. I have heard rumours that the fight is fixed for a close UD for Calzaghe and I'm not going to discuss it, just to let you know.

The punch output thing is a red herring. There is so much more to JC than that.

He has a lightning jab and superb upperbody movement. For every counter hopkins lands calzaghe will land possibly 4 counter counters. To beat JC i think you need to knock him out as he is the master of stealing rounds.

+ lets not forget Hopkins is a very slow starter and Calzaghe could be 4-5 rounds to nothing by the time Hopkins knows whats going on

Exactly! Hopkins is simply to good and crafty to be blown out by anyone. He will make it an ugly fight make Joe fight his fight and Joe's workrate will drop. I find it amazing that so many think Calzaghe will run through Hopkins ignorance is bliss.:-(

Going for Hopkins on this one. He has a physical advantage over Joe and presuming he turns it in to a dirty fight, which he will; i see calzaghe getting put out of his game plan and out pointed. Calzaghe doesn't seem to me to be someone who will put weight on well, he is loose at super middle where he is really cutting down, that should not be the case for someone who is 6,1.

Calzaghe doesn't have a gameplan. He's totally instinctive.

Naw i'm not going to have you give me something gay ... i'm straight ...

we can bet another fight ... but i'm not so sure what I was thinking betting against Cotto. I got a feeling of an upset but not sure enough to bet on it.

I respect Cotto enough not to make a senseless bet against him-

I still anticipate an upset but I wouldn't bank on it happening - Cotto has too much speed and too many dimensions. Gomez is good and is accurate, his chin is built tough, he has power underrated at WW, has fought as high as middleweight and took some good shots from 160 pounders.

I think Cotto is alot faster and it will show ... I figured it was just going to be a slug fest but I know at anytime Cotto can switch it up and make it a boxing match.

Why do people continue to judge Hopkins career by his gameplan vs Taylor. He isnt a very slow starter...wasnt vs Johnson, wasnt vs Echols, wasnt vs Vanderpool, wasnt vs Tito, wasnt vs Oscar, wasnt vs Eastman, wasnt vs Joppy, wasnt vs Tarver, wasnt vs Winky...

He went into that fight with a plan to allow Taylor to punch himself out while he picked his shots along the way...and once Taylor tired, he would punish him. This doesnt equate to being a slow starter...it equals a gameplan vs ONE OPPONENT.
