Yes...as a gameplan.

Seriously, watch the fight again with this in mind. You can see Hopkins just sitting, waiting on openings...allowing Taylor to get off and miss as much as he wanted...then once he saw Taylor starting to gas, he upped his intensity, upped his output and came at him.

In all honesty, if you watch the fight thinking about this, its plain as day that is was about gameplan, and not anything else.

And even if he did start slow in those two fights...that is 2 OUT OF 53 fights (54 if you count the NC). That again doesnt = a slow starter...and only adds to my point that is was his gameplan...as history doesnt support anything else.

Its a common misconception perpetuated by those who either A-have only seen him fight a couple of times (probably starting at or near the Taylor fights) or B-people that are attempting to discredit him for whatever reason.
