Which fights in history would've had different winners if those fights would've only gone 12? I'm not factoring in different strategies had fights only been scheduled for 12; I'm saying, if we took a given 15 round right (or 13th or 14th or 15th round KOs) and chopped off every round past 12 and went to the scorecards after 12, the opposite guy would win. An example would be Weaver - Tate. I've also read that ****ey, had he not fouled Holmes, would've been ahead after 12. Frazier - Ali I would have been a majority decision for Frazier. Arthur Mercante had it even after 12. I assume Louis-Conn I and Marciano-Walcott I would've been decision wins for Conn and Walcott, respectively. What are some other examples of guys pulling it out in the championship rounds?
Offhand, I think Armando Muniz, John Conteh and Albert Davila would have won the title against Carlos Palomino, Saad Muhammad and Lupe Pintor respectively. And Alfonso Lopez and Romeo Anaya would have retained their titles against Guty Espadas and Arnold Taylor respectively. But let's not even dredge up the debate over Corbett-Jeffries I and Johnson-Willard. Let's keep it to 15 rounders being abbreviated.
Duran would have RIGHTLY beaten Hagler, never mind the worthless opinions of maggots like not so cool kevin.
Per Boxrec Duran was ahead on two scorecards and even on the third after 13. I'm not sure how the judges scored round 13, but it sounds like the best Hagler could've hoped for was a draw after 12. I didn't remember it being that close, watching it as a kid. It looks like Norton would've got the nod after 12 vs. Ali in their rubber match. I hope as years go by and BoxRec gets more and more complete that more official round-by-round scorecards are posted.
Sugar Ray Robinson would have Become a Three Weight World Champion with a lopsided Points Decision over Joey Maxim, Rather than being unable to answer the Bell for the 14th
