Just find it hilarious that arm-chair boxers try to **** on the opposition of currently active future greats, and in the same breath try to tell you Jimmy Wilde is a top 10 P4P ATG, and a monster puncher. 75% of the people he fought didn't have winning records. This guy makes Chavez Jr. look like Evander Holyfield with his level of opposition.
P4P is ****... but it's still fun to bull**** and make lists. Holyfield was beating Hall of Famers 12 fights into his career.
So just because you saw the record in boxrec that most of the guys have losing records, and you believed it. You never even bother to see that a record of those guys are completely unverified.
Boxrec is all lies, you guys. You need to watch the footage of a fighter to see their top 10 ATG skills! That's what you have to do with Jimmy Wilde, watch the footage to see how good he truly was. Wait...
Their database of bouts is nowhere near complete. From what I've seen about 1/3 of the total bouts have yet to be listed or something like that, most older. They update their records weekly with about 1k-2k bouts. That's why you'll see fighter ratings fluctuate sometimes.
Having done a bit of research on UK boxing/fighters from Wilde's era, I'd estimate that 85-90% of the bouts from that period (in the UK) has not been entered into the Boxrec database yet. Using Boxrec as tool to make an opinion on british fighters from that era is therefore an, at best, extremely flawed method of doing research.
