I probably was going to go, but after all the blizzards lately, I'm afraid that if I do, I would just get stuck in Detroit!

Of course they did, but you don't think there was more to be made somewhere where they give a **** about these 2 fighters? Ticket sales, booze, and merchandise aren't free.

These guys need to fight in Europe if they want to make a name for themselves, fighting in the US in front of small crowds is doing nothing for their careers, time to step up to the big time guys.

It may be in this instance, but I'm sure I've read where fighters have gotten bonuses based on the live gate. Surely a promoter wouldn't put that into a contract if they weren't getting a cut too.

:deal business wise this is the smartest thing for the promoters.. It sucks for the reputation of boxing, but if we were in the same situation, we would have done the same thing.

    A) get a guaranteed site fee, don't have to do any work, no money to spend for promotion. Sit back and collect the check.

    B) look for a site, spend money on promotions, get up off your ass and work, and hope that the turn out is good enough to turn a profit.

i dont know about that but usually the sites fees the promoters keep, and its usually a huge amaount where they would give a fighter a cut e.g 1.5 mill each and then the promoter would keep the rest.
