6000 is already six times more than the total attendance for Dawson v Tarver 1 and who knows how many of those actually paid for a ticket.

this is why boxing continues to shrink year after year after year

the price of entry is ridiculous. 100$ baseline tickets, 60$ fight cards on ppv, how will a sport ever become popular and widen its talent pool without exposure? of course these greedy faygo's aren't thinking about the future, even of their own careers. :deal

I'd be interested in a comment from TomaTos who guaranteed me, when Froch v Abraham was being mooted for Montreal, that that fight would sell 21273 tickets on account of Montreal being a boxing city.

He didn't even back off when I pointed out that that is the hockey capacity and the capacity of the Bell Centre for boxing is 5000 less than that....

Maybe they are convinced that Pascal is just not good enough to win against Dawson. Who wants to pay $100+ to root for the loser.

He's nowhere near as big of a draw as Bute, and probably not as big of a draw as Diaconu or Lemieux. 6,000 seats starting at $100 a pop is still pretty decent in terms of drawing power though. There are maybe 10 American fighters who can draw that well in their hometowns.

I seriously doubt that they even sold 6000 tickets, i bought my tickets today and you still could get front row ringsides ,and super close tickets in all the other sections, Whoever said they sold 6000 tickets (probably the promoter Yvon Michel) is to create buzz has the fight gets closer , I would guess that no more then 3000 tickets have been sold so far.

From what I heard, about 350 people bought tickets, give or take a few dozen.

1- The biggest problem is the price of the tickets.

2- That card is worth ****... They made a huge mistake not putting Lemieux on it and it didn't matter if he would have faced an ordinary journeyman. They could have had 10 000 instead of possibly 7000 with the last minute buyers + giving Lemieux the HBO coverage is priceless ! When you get that chance, you don't let it go.....

3- The promotion isn't as effective cause the fight is still during summer. Not enough articles in papers, etc.

If Dawson beats Pascal, you can be sure Bute-Dawson will pack 20 000 fans in that building !

On a side note...I also think that GYM & INTERBOX should regularly do common promotions to put their fighters on each others' cards. That would do the fans a favor and up the overall quality of their cards.

Well because neither fighter is really that popular. Decent for them i guess. Besides Dawson is not really a fan friendly fighter.
