thats because nobody wants to see an old washed up fighter get slapped for 12 rounds straight...who would break they wallet for that? this fight should of been on HBO
UFC 91 (Couture vs. Lesnar) was being billed as the biggest UFC ever, and even they're struggling to sell tickets. They only have around 8K sold. Their follow up show isn't selling well either. "Lesnar- Couture, as of a week or so ago, was at 8,000 paid and $3.1 million, so tickets still aren’t moving with only $500 and more expensive seats left. With casino buys and such, the gate will end up comfortably north of $4 million, which would be among the biggest in history, but this was expected to break the $5,397,000 record……Tickets are now on sale for the 12/27 Las Vegas show… We don’t have numbers, other than the Internet presale was way slower than for Lesnar-Couture and for any of the major Vegas shows." So it's not that Americans are jaded by Boxing. It has a lot to with the economy and of course the outrageous ticket prices. But even with that said, I agree..the fight should have been in Europe. I know Roy was willing to travel.
This 24/7 won't be helping anything as it's so incredibly dull. Calzaghe is just a really boring guy and Jones is coming across as a bit weird. they'd have been better off doing this for Hopkins/Pavlik as Hopkins has personality and Pavlik at least has that likeable everyman thing going on.
Hey man, not to fast...Heard/read that Pac ODLH was a sold out the first day the tickets went for sale...
I just can't get enthused about this fight. It's a nice payday for these two, but I have few illusions about it being a quality fight. Jones will look to elude and throw the odd sweet counter shot, Joe will pebbledash away with his punches, and get the wide UD fine. Cue pats on the back all round. Certainly hope to be proved wrong, but I think it'll be a snoozer.
If Pac DLH sold out the first day, then certianly it has more of to do with the appeal of the boxers Calzaghe and Jones. Jones old and shot. Calzaghe only a few know who he is.
Well, at least the street busker (in either Washington Park or Central Park?) recognized Calzaghe! Enzo gave him $2...ya big spenda!
This should have been held in Wales ..7,000 peopele would have been waiting at the areana for the doors to open for this one .
Yeah...it should really have been held in Wales, at 10 pm local time. 50,000 people would have filled the MS. The Americans really don't care about this fight.
