Well I just checked AXS website and still see tons of tickets left, now at lower prices. Wilder and Fury are not a draw, end of.
Well team Wilder have talked alot of talk about Joshua, where the money is, how much of a star Wilder is and what he is worth and now they playing their hand and it appears to be a pair of 4's while Hearn and Joshua hold a full house (Wembley). If Wilder and co had just been honest and upfront about everything we could of had the Joshua fight by now but they have gone on this crusade to try prove Wilder brings millions to the table and this that and the other but they are about to fall flat on their faces. I know the real money is in the PPV but historically ive always seen Great selling PPV's and great selling fights go together, i never really see ticket bomb but PPV go through the roof. Usually if the gate is average the PPV will be average. But just like everything that has been coming out of Wilder, Finkel and DiBella's mouths has just been nonsense and time keeps catchig up with them. They either want this Joshua fight or they dont, Hearn and Joshua are offering them alot of money for the chance to take all the belts, this chicken feed crack money argument is about to fall as hard as their so called 50 million offer did when Finkel refused to send the contract or discuss anything about the fight.
Still not even close to selling out and have had to give a bunch of tickets away to try and fill up the arena, so good for supposedly the " the biggest fight in boxing history".
Truthfully, this fight needs to do well and generate good PPV numbers for the good of the sport. It will also give Wilder + network + promoter (or Fury, depending on who wins) leverage over Sky Sports and Matchroom. While the American networks and promoters have been sleeping, Hearn has just walked in and taken half the house and its furniture. Monopolies are never good.
Why they didn't get an LA fighter who sells tickets on the undercard I don't know. That seems like promotion 101. They seriously believed Wilder v Fury on its own sells out the staples. That's ridiculous.
Yeah but also the prices are ridiculous, over 1k for most of the lower tier! That is nothing short of scandalous
They can’t gat a decent undercard cause there is no freaking money left. Wilder and Fury is getting every penny. They banked on getting a sell out gate then adding quality fights. It backfired. Ticket sell is crap. They’ve been dredging the river for bodies with To Be Name as opponent. Outside of hardcore fans, there will be little to no interest.
Hometown? LA is a long way from Wilder’s hometown! But this lack of knowing who he is, is more a reflection of the US and the decline of boxing popularity among its denizens than of Wilder himself. If I was to walk around with a camera I doubt 1 out of 25 people could name a current boxer let alone one specific one.
I couldn't agree more and you, me and innumerable others have said the exact same thing and yet still the Wilderbois will have you believe that this is the most relevant and significant heavyweight fight in decades. I really hope that TF makes me joke on humble pie but, the odds are so stacked in Wilders favour, it's gonna take a minor miracle. And should Wilder prevale (pffftttt), he's still gotta do a lot more to convince me he's anymore than a bang average heavyweight titlist.
In the hands of a proper promoter, this fight would have been big in the USA. Not AJ vs. Wlad big, but a sellout with some buzz. LA is simply a tough, tough market and the promoter has done jack **** to build this into any sort of event.
