wouldnt you agree that maidana has looked a different animal since his move up in weight? amir did very well to stay in that fight especially late on and the fact maidana went down from a beutiful bodyshot and if he had kept his cool and picked it again he might have stopped him but his lack of ring iq let him down there too.

speed and timing equals power when someone is coming at you ala maidana but timing beats speed when you are a counterpuncher like mayweather. mannys hands are every bit as fast as khans mate and he couldnt do anything to floyd last night!!

you still never answered my question. have you spent time with khan and/or virgil hunter?

pacquaios 5 inch reach loss takes this away a bit, then add in his height and his feet not being as quick moving foward and its a diffrent prospect

i agree with the height and reach aspects but dont you think that amir has lost a bit of his fast footwork since teaming up with virgil? i personally think that mayweather is too smart for amir and that is teh one thing that virgil cant teach amir.

you know fine well I've spent time with Virgil I have openly said I have, Virgil gave me an open invitation to go to his gym in the states, the man in a student of the sport.
The difference possibly with Manny and Khan is Khan will be physically strong , punches I'd say as fast but Khan would be giving 5 inches in reach away.
Wouldn't you agree Amir has looked much better since moving up to welter as well?
How can you say the lack of ring iq let him down he beat Miadana easily what more can he do, sing and dance as well?:patsch:nono

yeah he has, id like to see him fighting the way he used too and he would have a better chance but i see khan at least being able to put it up to mayweather, he'll wait to try and counter mayweather and then lunge in with combinations,i just dont see it being as difficult for amir compared to pacquaiio. The slower footwok could be key though mayweather looked so good last night its hard to see anyone at 147 beating him.

Its still intersting if khan can finish off algeiri then I'd like to see it and hopefully he'll come on a little bit again and look a little sharper.

firstly i wouldnt agree that amir has looked any better since moving up. the level of opposition at welterweight has been inferior to that he boxed at light welter. i agree he has improved in certain aspects under virgil but he has also lost regressed a bit in the footwork department. virgil has tightened his defence but also made him a bit flat footed.

on the ring iq, im sorry but holding your hands to your head and continuously circling the ring isnt ring iq billy, maybe that is something you could work on. when maidana was reigning punches in and stalking amir then id have liked amir to show his iq by walking toward him to nullify the wide punches and then grabbing hold and walking maidana backwards until the referee pulled them apart. this would have gave him a breather, let his head clear and put maidana off the rythym he was getting. wouldnt you agree that would have been better ring iq? are you sure you know what i mean by ring iq. lol

billy sticking up for his mates again. grow up billy, did i say that my opinion would matter to virgil? the answer is no

at the end of the day billy i will not be put off saying my opinion because you think because you are working in the professional game gives you more of a right to make an opinion. if you can honestly say that khans footwork is still as fast as before i really think you are in denial about how much you still need to learn!! everyday is a school day billy boy

Mayweather ud 12 vs khan very easily, he would just circle and make khan miss and counter him all night

mate your entitled to your opinion but if you done a poll and asked as Amir improved since being with Virgil you will be in the minority
It's not sticking up for anyone it's fact. I try and learn everyday whereas you watch on TV go to the odd show maybe and you think you know it all, try spending 3 months with a boxer getting them ready, game plan, fitness and mentally tough, then along come you who thinks there some form of expert telling people like me how to do my job, now just go to **** coz your ****ing me off you idiot
I've had guys like you come to my gym and within 2 mins I know you ain't got a clue about the sport it's completely different in reality

I like your passion, but Nelson has the resume, thus his opinion will have a lot more influence. That is not to say I always agree with Billy, but I do accept he has done it, and I (and you) have not. But still, some can shout louder, and wind Nelson up!

i have never said that amir hasnt improved under virgil but where he has improved his defence and shot selection amirs footwork is not as good. surely even you can see that there has also been areas where virgil hasnt improved amir?

where did i try and tell you or virgil for that matter how to do your job? answr is that i havent. your biggest problem is billy that you only respect your own opinion and nobody else can speak sense when in fact you make silly comments out of loyalty to boxers/managers/coaches etc without fully explaining your comments or giving real reasons why we should understand your side.

and you cant just say 'i work with boxers everyday' because there is a lot of well respected journalist that know every bit as much as you and they werent involved at any level.

am i not right that enzo calzaghe never boxed in his life but did pretty well as a coach even better than you!! . so on your thinking he should never have tried because he was never involved in boxing? your points are not valid in real life only in billys nelsons fantasy island

i dont deny that billy has done good for ricky burns and scottish boxing as a whole or that at times he can also give a good opinion but it sometimes he can only see his opinion as correct and if you go against it you know nothing about boxing because he is a professional coach!!

like i said in another post there is loads of well respected journalist/commentators that havent worked in the pro game but give avery good insight. its called knowledge and you can gain that by watching boxing/training videos/taking part and reading books etc to be able to give an educated opinion without billy ridiculing other posters on their knowledge
