Is this true? I want to do some weight training for a month or so before my fight then leave it for abit in the weeks close to the fight.

What effect would weight training but not eating lots of extra calories have? Decreased fat loss? Would it result in increased strength?

Way too broad bro. Need specifics. What type of lifting are you talking about, what does the diet look like and what sleep you getting?

Lifting - hmmm, I was thinking 3 sets of 12 reps on most exercises. Diet would be lots of vegetables, fibre, nutritionally rich foods, and obviously lots of mixed proteins. Sleep - 9 hours.

Increased muscle mass, strength and reduced fat % providing you kept up your cardio. You'll only gain size if you diet properly and train a certain way.

Weight is 100% down to nutrition. Your training will dictate how much of your weight is muscle.
