He's done well with what he has to work with I guess. I mean I dont rate his title win over N'Dou because I dont rate N'Dou at all. He had 8 losses when Malignaggi beat him. Although to his credit he does have a good win over Juan Diaz.

I aint a fan of his though, he talks to much that he cant back up.

If Paulie had power he would be one of the top fighters right now.

He's actually an extremely cool dude we hung out once or twic...not like he texted me and we met up or anything, it was more like "hey havent I seen you here before" type conversations. We talk about boxing and other random **** and go about our business. But like I said a really cool cat.

Pretty much where he is just now. Calderon doesn't have power and neither did Whitaker really - it didn't seem to hurt them.

He'd have a few more ko's but let's not pretend he'd be some sort of wrecking machine who'd have ran through all his opponents. He'd still have the same flaws and weaknesses.

I think with power he would have stopped Diaz and dare I say it N'dou (he was thrashing him with power shots) he would have dropped Hatton at least once but I'm not sure he would have won that fight since Paul's style just dosent suit well on the inside.

I agree - he'd have stopped a few guys he beat anyway and maybe had a come-from-behind victory or two but I don't see him being being a great or anything.

He fought with a terrible strategy against Hatton (which I know he blames McGirt for) so I don't know if power would've helped him much. Whatever you think of Khan's chin, Paulie barely landed a punch on him, so it wouldn't have mattered.

Would he even have fought in the same style of boxing-and-moving (which clearly was the most effective for him) if he had ko power? Or would he have been more flat-footed like he was against Hatton or Cotto? As great an effort as he gave against Cotto, I don't think that would've propelled him to greatness or anything.

Well one poster mentioned it best, with the power his style would had differed, even if you made the hybrid version of Paulie just with power guys like Khan, Cotto and Hatton would have still landed and that did not hold well for Paulie. His chin is good I must admit but for a slick boxer he does seem to absorb more punishment than he really should.

The narrative on Paulie is that he's a slick boxer, but he gets hit way too much to be considered "slick" in my opinion. His defensive deficiencies (hands low, no shoulder roll, running around the ring) limit him against world class competition. I don't see how any extra power would win him the Khan or Hatton fights, considering how badly he would've lost on the cards on both fights.

A "Paulie with extra power" makes him more marketable throughout his career, earning him a few better paychecks.

It was really sad to see him against Amir Khan. Wasn't even slightly in the ****ing game.

If paulie was heavy handed, he would be one of best in the game.

I always watch his fights. There always good win or lose.

I had it 2/2 after 4 against Khan. Khan is just a younger malignaggi with a worse chin. I really dont think Khan will be around when he's 30. He got out-youthed by a guy who went out and executed the same strategy he was going to use, who could take risks because paulie doesnt have the power to keep him at bay.

Slow plodding fighters will always have trouble with malignaggi- it would be interesting to see him fight a Maidana type fighter- he'd put on a diaz-esque clinic I think!

Well said. It's silly to say things like this otherwise we could say things like; if wlad had a good chin would he be the best heavyweight ever :D
