i think the distinction is that he wasn't FIGHTING at peak but it doesn't mean he was past it. he had a **** night after a **** training camp but was still capable of the same greatness he showed two years previously

he was in his prime..... his loss had nothing to do with eroding skills.....his loss had to do with not training and telling his trainers what he was gonna do that day...... not sure what this thread is for...thats what happens to fighters when you are young, mega rich, and dont train because your not a hungry fighter anymore

Tyson was 100% of his BEST/PEAK VS journeyman Buster. :deal

    He was Only 24 yrs-old!!

He used his overated head-movement all night - BUT Douglas timed it with teh jab all night.

+ Tysons' combos are overated anyway And he did a couple - BUT Douglas was too-fast with foot-work to catch with them - so Tyson was forced to use haymakers.

If fight repeated 10 times with 1988 Tyson insteed - this still hapens EVERY-TIME. :deal

shows how much u know foreman

Tyson knocked down Douglas for like 13-15 seconds, he was capable of beating douglas if he landed.

Buster Douglas also was not the same man that night. His mother had recently passed away and he dedicated his training and fight with Tyson to her. He had trained like never before and showed up in his best fight shape ever and fought with real inspiration. There was no stopping Buster Douglas that night.

he was peak physically, but i dont think his mindset was all there. Plus he fired kevin rooney. Him and his corner didnt take buster seriously before the fight

it was 13 seconds there was a big dispute after the fight because of this and it was a long count.

2.51 to 3.06 is 15 seconds mate... on the video you posted.

it wasn't really a dispute: more like Don King trying to buy a knockout win for tyson. didn't work for a reason man, it's kind of bull****

agree, he wasn't in prime but still it doesn't change the fact he's lost the fight against average dude... i really like tyson and i consider him as one of the best atg but it's only his fault that he had so short prime time...

This happens all the time, a fighter with a great right hand will look like superman,
but one day he fights someone who he can't hit with that right hand, then he look like a bum.
same with Tyson, Douglas knew what to do to stop Tyson's charge, Douglas let his hand go every time Tyson got inside or tied him up. Douglas was not a crackhead, [like most of Tyson's opponents] and that helped

    Bam.

Too much excuse making for a fighter that could have been so much more than he already was.
