fighting weight is not that difficult to understand in boxing. every fighter has a weight that puts him at the most advantageous position vs opposition at that weight. depending on individual strengths and weaknesses, each fighter tries to find the weight where he is most likely to emerge victorious.
each fighters individual genetics designed his body to operate at maximum efficiency under different conditions. some fighters carry more muscle mass withe thicker, denser bones, while others carry the same mass in thinner, longer bones, which makes them appear different sizes even though they move the same amount of weight.
adding or removing muscle to either natural frame will effect strength and speed, which in turn effects the efficiency of how their individual genetics designed them to perform.
paul williams is longer and taller than tyson, but if he put on weight artificially to be able to fight tyson, he would get murdered because the loss of speed and reflexes from the artificial weight would make him a sitting duck. likewise, tyson would collapse trying to get down to the weight that a naturally taller and longer paul williams carries naturally.

You do know MW history is littered with former WWs don't you? This is not something exclusive to triple Gs time.

I agree with op. There are two types of fighters. Those who get passes and those who are held to a higher standard and don't receive said passes. Unfortunately in GGG's case he's just a sacrificial lamb who will be robbed just to propel Nelo because he's a **** draw. He just has internet hype behind him and draws **** numbers.

Given Kell Brook has never been 180 on fight night we know of, it's certainly hypothetical. And if he can dehydrate down at least 5 pounds on the night before, Kell Brook could fight at light heavy. That's the rules.

It was a match between two welterweights. But given Mayweather had about a 5 inch reach advantage and something like 4 pounds on the official scales..likely more on fight night, you can conclude Mayweather was the bigger man.

The OP is full of ****. And if you agree with him, then, well...do the math.

Sadly, too many fools here play the false equivalency game, trying to put to different cases together and acting if all is equal. That's rarely the case as details will often show.

Unfortunately yes. But you'll easily be able to pick them out eventually. They aren't too bright, says the same thing over and over.

Every fighter gets a pass from his fans and criticism from those who dislike him, I cannot see how the OP has a fair point applied to the general population of boxing fans. Yes, there are plenty of people with inconsistent double standards here because they hate Floyd, but the OP is a Loma/GGG hater and won't give either a fair shake.

It's not like GGG gets any credit for beating Brook anyway, and Loma won't get a lot for beating Rigo either. Same with Floyd and JMM. They are decent wins at best. Arguing that any of those are (or would be) a more than that is a lost cause.

Like you Lance but it's not full of **** to say different fighters are not held to the same standard. G is at the top of a lot of media outlets' p4p list and as a 34 year old, hasn't really done ****. He got busted up by a WW and has fought mostly garbage.

I'm a broken record on this and do not care to elaborate further but Jermaine Taylor was never p4p as high as G and he fought way more killers in succession that shits all over anything G has done.

And that's what I'm talking about. Inconsistent double standards.

I get that part, just think the OP is about the most biased poster on ESB and has no right to talk about double standards.

Who cares about a p4P list anyway? You know it's not a real thing, right?
Of course different fighters are held to different standards. That's always been the case, and for the most part, more accomplished fighters are held to a higher standard then those of lesser accomplishments.

Where Jermain Taylor was placed also has to do with who was ranked on the list at the same time. Quality of fighters on any list, be it p4P or top ten in a division, ebbs and flows with the coming and going of talent, or movement of fighters, and wins/losses of course. A simple # doesn't mean jack **** without details on the rest.

But when you say 3G bot busted up. I can't take you serious after that. You can rant hyperbolic with someone else...

There's a lot of truth there, but GGG was ducked mercilessly by the other top MWs until about a year ago. Not his fault that he fought a ton of C level fighters.

Also, p4p lists are based on who else is around. Current #1 p4p is, according to the media, either Ward, Loma or GGG. None of those have the accomplishments of, say, a prime Floyd or Pac.
