I would love to see this fight - but even after he beats Cotto - they'll have someone else to say he's ducking - like Margarito or Paul Williams. The BS never stops. There's only one Mayweather.
yup this match needs to happen if he can defeat another young undefeated fighter he will truly be one of the greats.
He already said he's back into retirement, that is the second time he said that after the ODLH fight ( May 6) and announced to come out of retirement ( June 24) allegedly cause Hatton put in doubt his entertainment abilities... I don't need to hear or watch him again no matter what people make out of his fighting career until this point. One way or the other, Floyd Mayweather seems to be history.
Jose Luis Castillo and Hatton showed on how to beat him and that is pressure. The only that hurt Hatton in the fight is that he cannot hit in that weight where as Cotto will pressure you but the difference is Cotto can hit and has better defense that both of these fighters. That fight needs to happen now.
The difference is...Floyd has beaten real legitimate champions from 130-154... Calzaghe has beaten bums at 168 (a traditionally weak division). All Calzaghe had to do was what many before him did (including RJJ, Toney, etc.)...MOVE UP A DIVISION TO FIGHT SOMEONE GOOD!!! Ahhhh...gotta love those attempts to include Calzaghe in the same breath as PBF. 6 titles in 5 weightclasses vs title defenses against no one in 1 weight class....hmmmmmm...
First of all, Hopkins will beat Calzaghe... Secondly, Calzaghe has been around a longggggg time. You're telling me there has been nobody in the last 10 years at 175 that Calzaghe could've made a legitimate effort to fight, rather than sit at 168 and fight bums in his backyard??? Listen, I don't blame Calzaghe. This is a BUSINESS. That's why Floyd doesn't take chances...They want to make money, and they don't want to end up sounding like Joe Frazier or looking like Ali. It makes sense. If Calzaghe stepped up to RJJ or the like 6 years ago, he would've gotten his ass handed to him, and he knows it. He stayed in his division, ran up his record against bums, made a good living, and that's that. But, the ATG fighters, step up to other challenges in other divisions. That's typically how it works...
99% of the people romaing these forums would feel that if floyd beats cotto--then he would be all time greatest fighter ever. They have said it before the hatton fight and now after. Bottom line.
I agree.. they say that there will always be someone else.. but after Cotto I think most would be satisfied..
