I recorded the fights tonight as I was busy til late. I came back and watched them, saw the Lubin fight. I was excited to see that fight, as it is not often we see to YOUNG up and comers fight each other. It was a decent fight on paper, sure Charlo has more experience, and was a slight favorite, but honestly until the knockout I don't think Lubin looked bad at all. He just needs to tighten up his defense a bit, and he will be on track again. He definitely skipped some steps getting to Charlo, and it showed. He took a risk, and it just didn't pay off.

Let's not PUNISH him for taking that risk. He is not "damaged goods" or a "has been", he is only 22 years old. He can learn A LOT by the time he is Canelo's age even. He might have a suspect chin, but defense can fix that. Also we NEED more fights where up and comers fight each other. Instead of building up and fighting 10 hand picked guys to lose to them, then they fight each other when they are 3 years past their best. This wasn't the mismatch some think it was, just cause he got knocked out early doesn't mean it was a bad match. He also didn't take much punishment before getting KO'd, so he will be able to recover from this. He was up pretty quickly, I just think the right side of his head got hit, compressed nerves, and he wasn't able to send signals correctly to that side of his body. Any KO punch has a ELEMENT of luck and I think Charlo's had more than most. Let's not write Lubin off, if we do it will only encourage other fighters to go the "Mayweather" route. Staying undefeated at any cost... Who wants to see that again?

With all this being said, let us as fans embrace a good night of match making (two decent matches on paper here) and remember there is only two things that we can say for sure about boxing after tonight:

    GLASS CHINS DO EXIST
    GLASS CHINS WILL BE SHATTERED

    :deal:

I don't mean to be a dick towards Lubin, I think he still can recover from this, but we don't discuss chins like we used to on here, and I think tonight is a good reminder why we need chin checkers. (and why we need more good match ups).

Lubin is a good fighter, he will learn as they all do and come again. Future World Champion.

I do think this is a major problem with modern day Boxing and i hope i dont ruffle too many feathers when i say it seems to be most prevelant in America. Boxers are too scared of a loss. Its like getting beaten is the end of their career, cant make any money with a loss on the record, cant fight for world titles with a loss on the record. Most of these Boxers are not scared of other fighters but are scared of the set back. They have a warped view, a loss is a step back but they see it as 20 steps back, 1 loss and its game over man.

Thats why we have all these fighters getting steered through their careers by their promoters and handlers. side stepping here and ducking fights there, refusing to leave their home town to fight and all that kinda thing. Most of histories greats had losses on their records. Sometimes a loss can do you good.

Lubin will bounce back and will end up at the correct level for his talent just like anybody else who loses at some point. As long as you look after yourself, train hard and train smart and keep learning as go you soon slot into your rightful place.

Yeah I think a lot of fans are figuring out undefeated doesn't mean much seeing as you can fight Conor McGregor and it counts as a win...

A lot of fighters risked their "0" recently. Danny Swift, Spence, Brook, GGG, Ward, Kovalev, Thurman...

I think maybe since Floyd retired they see less incentive to stay undefeated, as there is no fight with Mayweather anymore.

Personally I'm just staying consistent. I said in 2015 that Lubin would fail when he stepped up.

Lubin was knocking people out but he never showed that polish that he would need against a fighter like Charlo.
