Dons credentials were about as good as it could have been. He beat Lastarza & Mathews.

outside of the former champions, Layne, Lastarza, Mathews and Cockell were about as good as it got. Lastarza and Mathews beat Layne. Don beat Lastarza.

Satterfield proved to be better than Valdes and Baker. And Layne flattened satterfield.

I agree, that’s why I said despite his rating.
It was more just a case of the actual gulf between the fighters, Don was always probably going to be brutalised, although in fairness he did pretty well in there.
